Brown bottle into pilsner glass. No BB date.

A: Lightly golden brightish yellow with a good finger of jagged, well lasting head. Decent lacing. Carbonation seems to lesson quite a bit after a couple minutes.

S: Definite bready malts with a spicy note that I attribute to the hops but maybe sort of toasty too.

T: Much like the smell but the spicy hop character is much more fleshed out. The heavy bread/toast flavor has not died out though, creating a balance that I find both unusual and pleasant. There is a bottom note that I do not get in the nose, Which I'll say is pleasantly surprising.

M: Light as expected, but surprisingly "there" with a slight bitter oiliness that turns dry at the finish. Carbonation is a bit light but certainly passable.

O: Impressive! This is what I've been enjoying finding in the pilsner style. Straight simple and refreshing. Quite distinctive beer but not much to overcomplicate or muck up the taste. Refreshing as hell but way too good for the lawnmower! BTW: I like this much more than Victory Prima, which I had high hopes for but was a bit disappointed in . Too bad I love this so much cause it's damned expensive at $12/6.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a clear straw color. The head is about two fingers high, white shade, and very fluffy for the style. Retention is excellent, as well. Add in nice streaks of lacing left on the glass, and you have a genuinely attractive pilsner.

S: The hop/malt balance actually smells bang-on here. Its hop profile is subtle, but there. Ditto the malts: subtle, but there. Notes of sulfur, earth, grass, and bread appear. I'd even call it delicate.

T: There's a very defined grain taste that I pick up as soon as it hits the palate. It's also backed by some sugar cookie flavor. The hop profile here tastes mild: seemingly only there to balance the rich malts out. Actually, no - it coalesces with the malts to create a spicy character.

M: For a pilsner, this is quite soft and creamy. Perhaps, even full bodied. And in spite of that, it's still very easy to drink. It isn't effortless, but it's honestly savorable. Carbonation is just restrained enough.

O: The finesse of this beer surprised me. Blindfold me, and I'd swear it came from Germany - they even spelled pilsner ze German way on the bottle! I don't even remotely care that it doesn't bring the hop assault something like Prima Pils does, either. I'll have to return to this one ASAP, it's that good.

A: Extraordinary clarity. Bright lemon yellow with beautiful white head. Retention above average, and average lacing.

S: Very straightforward and true to style with grainy malts leading the way. Some light spice and floral notes from hops.

M: Underwhelming carbonation actually builds as you let it breathe to become medium-high. Slight astringency in the finish.

T/O: Grains, biscuits, well-attenuated maltiness, but high bitterness. Good hop flavor that can be a little harsh with its straightforwardness-arrowroot, herbal character. One of the more accurate American re-creations of the style. Good lingering bitterness, tart lemon aftertaste. No doubt a pils for those who appreciate Noble hops.

Pours a brilliant lemony straw with a billowing ivory head that lingers.

Floral hops and crackery pilsner malt dominate the aroma. There's a hint of skunk.

Flavor reveals hop bitterness throughout. The base is crackery, dry malt. There's a slight sour/minerally note that is intriguing.

Body and carbonation are moderate. There's a bit of astringency in the finish.

Not a bad example of the style, but the sour character is out of place. Bitterness is certainly dominant.
