Served from a 12 oz bottle into a standard pint.
Appearance: Nice amber color, almost an actual "red" color. Light cream colored head that died pretty quickly.
Smell: Hops, as the bottle/beer description may lead you to believe, but also malts, and not hops like you'd want if you were an IPA fanatic.
Taste: Hops, then malts, then hops, then malts. Kinda gave my mouth a runaround in a good way. This isn't particularly complicated, but it is very servicable. Reminds me a bit of Philadelphia Brewing Company's Rowhouse Red, for a regional comparison. I actually like that beer, and I like this one too. Would picture this going nicely beside some spicy cheap Chinese take-out.
Mouthfeel: Medium to light body, crisp as a result of the hops and solid carbonation level. Overall drinks pretty easy.
This site says this is winter only... Stoudts should probably go ahead and offer this year round. It's pretty tasty. I don't know if I'd go to this over other stuff though.

Had on tap in a pint glass.
Pours a clear deep red with an off-white head. Lacing is great although the head retention is so-so.
Aroma is on the faint side but there it has a slightly sweet note with some biscuit and a touch of rye.
The flavor follows the aroma with more rye, hints of some moderately toasted malt and a very high bitterness. Hops are somewhat spicy nicely complimenting the rye notes. Finish is very dry.
Overall, a decent beer but honestly it is pretty average and nothing really sticks out. I do love rye beers but this one is just a tad watery and a bit unbalanced.

The aroma is yeast, caramel malts, light pine and a hint of tea. The flavor is grapefruit, citrus, fruit, mild hop resin notes, mild tea, malts and a long and bitter/dry finish. Overall this was decent and a little better than average as far as Ambers go.
