Stopped by here on our way back to MD from Allentown, PA. Sunday night at 7pm - unfortunately (and obviously), the brewery was closed, but we ate off of the brew pub menu at the Black Angus Restaurant.

Atmosphere: Quaint (did I spell that right?). Old world feel, lots of German kitsch on the walls, the boys (and dad) liked the 1920s nudes on the wall of the men's bathroom.

Quality: Definitely a comfortable destination. Nice bar. Good looking oysters and jumbo shrimp on display. Not fancy dining by any stretch, although I believe the Black Angus menu would have you believe so.

Service: Fine. Friendly hostess and wait staff.

Selection: The beer, obviously, was the draw. Nothing like fresh brew pub selections. I was there for the Gold Lager, we also had the Fat Dog (imperial stout), and the Oktoberfest.

Food: The big downside. My weisswurst, bratwurst and rotkohl were excellent, but the chuck steak and crab cakes were mediocre, at best. My three year old's chicken tenders were burnt, but who am I kidding, I was there for the beer!!

Value: Value was decent. I was there to make a bulk purchase (3-4 cases?) on the Gold Lager, which I figured would be a big discount versus buying it locally, but at $9 a sixer, I can buy it just as competitively here in MD.

Ate at the restaurant and had some beers. The decor in the restaurant is an attempt at German beer house, but it seems a bit dated and stale. I've also been to a beerfest that was in the back "indoor beer garden" area.

Quality of the beer is okay, they do basic styles well, but nothing very innovative. But you can find a beer you would like. Service was good. The food is steaks and German and PA Dutch cooking - sausages, spaetzle, schnitzel, etc. It was okay.
