Finally visited Yankee on 5/2/08. Was seeking out the Lost Abbey's Serpent's Stout and picked one up, as well as an Alesmith Wee Heavy and a couple bottles of North Coast Le Merle for my saison tasting. Craft beer selection was fairly substantial, but not quite of the magnitude of Julio's. Also, no mix-a-six option, which was a bit of a downer; however, what Yankee has in it's favor is proximity (much closer to me than Julio's), as well as the fact that I am not sure of the Beer Geek traffic it gets. When I was there, which was right after work on a Friday, there was only one other person perusing the craft selection. I also spoke with the beer manager for a while and he gave me quite a bit of attention. Cooler selection was much less substantial, but they also had a growler selection; Opa Opa and some others. All and all, a great selection, and will definitely be my go to place for things I can't score in RI.

Big selection, lots of imports and many different states are represented.
Prices are a high yet its on the main drag and easy to get to, plenty of parking.
There are many upscale choices with plenty of room for averaged priced beers.
Went yesterday during peak holiday shopping time (Sat. before X-Mass), checkout lines were well managed. Easiest shopping experience this season.

Great wall of beer. A little bit of everything. I picked up a 11-year-old bottle of Xyauyu and can't wait to open her. Things I didn't expect: a good amount of Night Shift, Bruery, Lost Abbey, JW Lees, Wormtown, and other beers you typically don't see that much. Worth a stop.

This is the second Yankee Spirits I've been to and this experience was better than the last; not that the last one was bad! Huge selection of cold and shelf beers. Pretty much the same breweries as the last one, but different selections were available at this one. Tons of west coast stuff: Port, Lost Abbey, Logsdon Farmhouse Ales, Cascade. Good selection of Troegs and Weyerbacher as well. I must say, it took me forever to decide on what to get. I was there hoping to score some Night Shift Santilli but didn't see it with any of the 750s on the shelf. Upon inquiry to Ben, the beer mgr, I was told that he might have some in the back (apparently where they normally keep it). Got the last 4 pack. Overall, I felt I came away with a good haul. Great selection, great customer service. Two thumbs up!

I discovered Yankee Spirits back in 2005 while working in the area. I had not been back in 5 years, as now my travels usually take me by the Yankee Spirits in Sturbridge. But I was working in Providence, and was eager to see if it was still as great a store as it use to be.

Back then, you could routinely find specials where you could get really nice glassware if you bought a six or twelve pack, or sometimes even just a single 22 oz bottle of a nice imported german beer. I'm not talking about just pint glasses, but really nice Weizen style glassware, Pilsner, tulip and goblet style glassware, even mugs. And the price wasn't jacked up to cover the cost of the glass. I always thought that the store got loads of free samples because they bought so much beer, and passed them on to the customers thru these promotions. Other stores I have been in (including the Sturbridge Yankee Spirits) have these glasses for sale.

The store itself hadn't changed a bit, which means it has not been spruced up at all.
It still has a slighty dingy appearance, like an old supermarket that hasn't keep pace with the times. But I don't mind that at all, because the money is put on the floor with an awesome beer selection that has everything from obscure imports to the latest craft breweries. There is one very long aisle with hundreds of different beers,
mirrored by a refrigerated section along the wall. In between are stacked cases on the floor, with some great deals to be had. That's where I found a 12 pack of Palm from Belgium, with a Palm tulip glass attached, for $13. I also picked up some RI craft beers I hadn't tried before - Foolproof & Grey Sail. Both were reasonably priced.

I never ask for help, but two people did ask me if I needed any, which was nice. The check out lady was polite, so no complaints about service.

I haven't been to the Swansea store, but if it is as good as the two other Yankee Spirits stores I will have to make the effort next time I am in the area.

I finally made it up to this place yesterday. ITS HUGE! While they only have one isle dedicated to craft beer, its a very loooooong shelf lol. Huge selection of beers from all over. I was thrown off with prices. I read how this place not only had the best selection, but the best prices as well. Both beers i went in their looking for were priced higher than they were at 2 previous stores i went to that day as well as the angry orchards my girlfriend wanted. Still giving this place an excellent rating though because even though they were higher in price, it wasnt so much of a difference that i wouldnt pay. Highly recommend stopping by if your in the area. Heck even if your not, the trip will most likely pay off.

Great beer selection. The prices seem to be some of the best in the area. I only buy beer here, however they appear to have a fantastic selection of wine and liquor as well. It's a gritty, large, semi run down place which adds to its charm in my opinion. Not uppity at all and always crowded.

A very nice selection and location convenient to the Cape/Providence. Always someone available to assist customer. Knowledgeable staff. Nice people.

I'm a regular here, drawn first for its wine selection, but now due to its beer offerings. I have been fortunate enough to interact with Karen, who is one of the most knowledgeable and approachable resources. Rather than give suggestions, she asks about your likes. She offers a selection from every end of the price and geographic spectrum. She is aware of every type of beer, including those they don't carry. I learn more every time I visit that she's working. I agree with another reviewer that absent her, the staff seems to be more intent on stocking than servicing. Karen is a reason in herself for going here. Their selection is tough to beat. She even has given me advice on little-known taverns in the area. It's a beer lesson in itself to just peruse their craft beer. They allow singles, which is a pleasure (about 10% more than the pre-packed price per bottle). There are often sales reps cruising the area offering understandably skewed advice. The cashiers aren't warm and fuzzy unless you engage them. Even then, the place can get as busy as a grocer, so they have to keep things moving. If you have someone in your life who prefers wine, as I do, I've used a few of the mature staff here who are outstanding. They are constantly having tastings of various types of spirits, and prices are appropriate for their selection. I feel they are worth the trip.

My first time at the Yankee Spirit. If you want selection and price- this is the place. Incredible selection of Craft Beers. Single bottle purchases from 4-6 packs are fine. Prices are reasonable and cheaper than Marty's or Whole Foods. No seperate bottles from unopened cartons( this is the same in Trader Joes).

Service? Not very good. If you can find a salesperson who works there, fine. My experience is NOT to ask a salesperson about the quality of a beer- just read the reviews.

The Craft beer aisle is long- and easy to peruse. All the Belgians are together.

Prices- excellent. Speedway stout may be $2-3 cheaper than other stores. Johnny Walker Red was about 28 or so- in most stores it's 32.

This is a great find. I haven't tried Julios, but for craft beer drinkers located near one of the Yankee Spirits, this is the place of choice most likely.

Revisiting this after being a customer for several years. Yankee looks a bit worn and smells faintly like a brewery floor but there aren't many places around with the beer selection they have, and the only one I can think of with a wider variety absolutely cannot beat them in price. Bang for the buck is really good here. You can buy singles and I think they have a mixed six-pack policy now. There are frequently mixed 24-pack mystery cases for about $20-ish. These are hit-or-miss you can sometimes find some really good stuff in them. There are frequently specials going on and it's surpassing rare that I've walked out without finding something both good and within my budget.

Service is about what you'd expect. Cashiers are friendly enough, helpful when you have an issue and I've never had a bad experience here. If I have one issue with it it's that the bottle deposit area is always packed.

This definitely has the old supermarket feel as it used to be one. Has one of the hugest selections of beer(wine & liquor too) in the local area. This is one of main stops for beer as it's hard to beat the selection. Although they don't overtly advertise(I think they should) you can buy singles of craft beers. Service I've gotten has been friendly. If a beer snob can't find something here then they have a problem not the store. The only demerit would be the constant clash and bang of the recycling machines which are adjacent(walled off but not sound proofed) to the beer isle which can get annoying. On related note if you plan to recycle can's and bottles beware that recycling corner is loud, crowded and reeks of stale beer. This part of store really needs some attention as it keeps it from being a really super place.

great store, and very similar to the Swansea, MA location. Refer to that review for a description of Yankee in general. this will deal with the disparity between the two locations.

Almost all the stock is the same, with a few exceptions. There are going to be some variances in the stock from place to place just based on people's regional buying habits, etc.

This store is more heavily trafficked and therefore much less "friendly" in the sense that it feels much more like a supermarket rather than a small craft store.

I prefer attleboro to swansea when it comes to limited releases, the people in attleboro tend to be much less secretive about them and it is much easier to obtain them here.

great store

Went here for the first time a couple of days ago. This store is not a big as Julio's or Luke's in Rockland, but is bigger than most other stores I have explored in the state. I loved how they had full lines of several different breweries. I was impressed with the huge amount of domestic offerings. They had an extensive collection of brews from New England. Some of the stock I could not find in my area of Massachusetts. Everything was fairly organized. I did not call over any beer manager, but this was more warehouse style. Prices were a little more expensive than what I find over here, but not overly so. I would stop here again on my way to Providence.

I've made several visits to the Yankee Spirits in Attleboro (the Swansea location is a little closer to where I work). While the Attleboro location is a lot older and more worn than the Swansea location, the selection is even better.

This place is huge with the beer taking up a small percentage but that still means a lot of beer. They have one main aisle of singles and six packs and then lots of cases on display across from it. The aisle is very long and is organized by region with sizeable areas for Germany, Belgium, England the West Coast and the East Coast. They have a nice selection of West Coast beers (my favorites) from some great breweries like Green Flash, Stone, Rogue, Ballast Point and Sierra Nevada.

I didn't find anything special about the service but I didn't approach anyone either.

This is about my favorite beer store in the greater Providence, RI area. They have a huge selection of beer at decent prices. If you're in the area and haven't been, check it out.

Wow, what a huge selection. This place is the size of a supermarket and 1/4 of it for just beer. Great selection in the coolers and even better on the shelves. Lots of great local New England beers as well as stuff from all over the US. Plenty of choices from Europe and the rest of the Globe too. Well worth the 20 minute drive. Very good selection of singles as well as sixpacks. Prices are probably the best in the area. Nice people and good knowledge of beer. Plus a HUGE wine and liquor selection. Great place to shop for your next party.

For price and selection, I don't know of a better place in the area. The craft beer mystery mix case is really fun and they do a great job of moving their stock to keep things fresh. If something has been there too long it winds up in the bargain bin. You can get ridiculous deals at the end of seasons (last year I got cases of Wachusett Winter in March for $12 each). Depending on who's working, you can get some good advice on new beer to try. There's one guy working the beer aisle that really knows his stuff (can't remember his name at the moment). It's a great place to go if you're hosting a party and need to get something for everyone and you can bring the empties to the redemption center and cash in the slips for more brews for yourself.

This place is awesome..An entire supermarket filled with alcohol. Fabulous selction of wine and liqor...Selection of craft beer is not only exceptional, but unsurpassed in my opinion. Some beers can be a liitle expensive, but where is craft beer cheap these days. For a value try their mix case, 17.99 for a 24 bottle case of imports and microbrews.

We've been to a number of their beer tasing events and had a blast. Definately worth the drive if your looking for a microbrewyou can't seem to find anywhere else.

Fantastic selection. Every local local New England micro, plus a ton of Midwest and west coast, including Rogue and the almighty Alesmith, which is impossible to come by in RI (for me anyway). Huge international selection as well, most of your favorites from Germany and Belgium are also present. The place is about the size of a small grocery store (and has the ambience of one), and about 1/4 of the place is dedicated to beer. Great wine selection too. Prices fair, since they really have little competition. Ask for Ray the beer guy, who has great recommendations for beginners and also for beer snobs. Tastings offered through their website. For me, its definitely worth the 40 minute drive and I make a trek there quarterly. Unbelievable wine selection as well.

This is another one of those great bottle shops that isn't much to look at from the outside but once you get inside you are immediately swayed by its selection. This is part of a chain of package stores in Southern Massachusetts.

The focus tends to be wine and other liquors but there is a nice long aisle devoted to micros, macros, and imports. I tend to favor English brews and their selection is quite good including several Fullers, Young's, Wychwood, and many nitro-cans.

I also like their Southern New England micro selection since I cannot get Rhode Island or Connecticut brews in New Hampshire where I live. New Hampshire gets a few Massachusetts beers but this place has a decent variety of Mass beers from the Haverhill Brewery, Ipswich, Wachusetts, and of course the better known Sam Adams and Harpoon.

It is about 15 minutes from the huge Wrentham Outlet Mall. It's a great way to end a day of shopping.
