Growler shared by Gatorbeernerd - thanks!

Pours one shade from black with a thin tan head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells equally of roasted and smoked malts. Filling in the background are mild amounts of unsweetened chocolate and a nice booziness from the barrels - although the vanilla and/or butterscotch usually tagging along are nowhere to be found.

Tastes very similar to how it smells. Roasted malt flavors kick things off and are joined almost immediately by good amounts of smokiness. Midway rhoguth the sip mild unsweetened chocolate flavors come into play and carry through to a mildly bitter ending. As with the smell the barrels contribution is mostly a good deal of booziness.

Mouthfeel is OK. It's a bit on the thin side with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is good. I finished my glass without a problem and could have another.

Overall this was by no means a bad beer but it's certainly near the bottom of the barrel (pun intended) when considering barrel aged beers. Still, not a bad choice if in KY.

Thanks to hopdog for sharing this growler...
Appears a dark brown, nearing black with a small tan head that slowly fades into a gentle cap. Spotty bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of cramel, vanilla, oak, cocoa, and sugary candy.
Taste is of the aromas with mild burnt bittersweet cocoa coming through.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, bittersweet, and chewy.

Growler acquired in trade with alexsdad06 (thanks!).

Poured a dark, dark brown (almost black color) with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of woody, trace of bourbon, earthy, and smoke. Tastes of smoke (stronger than in the aromas), woodiness, roast, chocolate, vanilla, and again a trace of bourbon. The bourbon was barely noticeable - but the woodiness was there.

Growler from Party Town during the Derby weekend.

Pours into a tulip.

A: Pours deep brownish black and lets no light through. Decent head forms with a bit of retention before falling to a skim. A bit of lacing.

S: Nice smoky porter base. Hints of light coffee with milk and bitter chocolate. Bourbon plays as an accent and adds some depth with the usual vanilla and oak notes.

T/M: MMMmm... Strong, but not overpowering, smoke blends very nicely with the light coffee and (a bit stronger) milky and bitter chocolate flavors. The bourbon is present but again plays as an accent, which it should. A bit of alcohol warmth and vanilla/oak. A bit on the sweet side. Alcohol and smoke gets bigger as it warms. Body is medium full and velvety smooth.

D: ABV has to be pretty decent on this one. It still drinks decently and is pretty tasty. BBC can make some damn good beers and their barrel offerings are definitely among their best.

Growler from Party Town.

Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted malt. woody bourbon and smoke aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium balanced smoke flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.

My expectations where met with a very good brew.

This one pours a dark brown color with a very small head that doesn't last and doesn't leave any lacing on the glass. The aroma had an aroma of a cheap whiskey more than bourbon along with hints of roasted malts. The flavor had a definate bourbon overtone but is backed by a malty porter. Some wood character and some slight sourness. This could use a little more body, but overall, it's pretty tasty. The drinkability is pretty good.
