Pours from the bottle the color of, well, take a look at the name. A fizzy white head rises up quickly and sits back down again. Smell of sweet malt and buttery corn. Flavor is light and crisp, some grassy flavors, not too malty and not too hoppy. Mouthfeel is dry and tingly. Not a great beer, but better than most American macro lagers. Or as my wife said "It's bad beer made better." I love the other selections from BBC, so it's good to hear that this is contract brewed and not really their own. Thanks to Brent for sending this on and for warning me to not take it too seriously.

(Served in a strange)

A- This beer has a pale yellow body with a slight haze and a strong carbonation of tiny bubbles. There is a snow-white head that is made up of lots of big bubbles.

S- The smell of musty pine hops is balanced by a fresh raw barley smell. The smell if simple but it is very fresh and nice.

T- The taste of soft pale dry malt and a faint pine note finishes with a nice pine bitterness that hangs on a while after each sip.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a tight fizz that freshens up the hops bitterness.

D- Rereading my description it doesn’t sound like a very good beer but it had a really nice smooth but good flavor. There was a nice balance of malt and hops but it was missing the really dry sulfur notes that mask the other flavors. This is a nice session beer and a great gateway beer to the world of craft beer.

A friend gave this to me at a block party since she knows that I'm into trying all sorts of beer, and this is one of the coolest bottles I've ever seen!

I couldn't really smell this since I had to drink from the bottle and I secretly poured a little out onto the ground to see what color it was...from what i could gather, this one is basically golden yellow and smells like a macro lager (I didn't actually know what style of beer this was, but after smelling it I knew it was a macro lager.

Tastes funky and lagery, but sweeter and a little bit thicker than Miller or Bud. This is really a bland and mediocre brew that is a novelty, and something to be bouth as a gag gift or seomthing, but I won't drink this again. It's not unpleasant, it's just BMC in a cool bottle with a funny name.

Not to be be confused with the unremarkable Wisconsin-based beer of the same 'Horse Piss' name, BBC's entry pours a faint urine yellow - appropriately enough, with almost no nose. Smells like a mainstream beer, and tastes very plain and watery. This is a lager without much personality. But at least there's no pretense here - what you get is exactly what you'd expect from the name. Methinks the consistently top-notch BBC Brewery is pulling one over with this novelty brew.

Welp, everybody can call me a sucker now. I bought the beer 'cause of the name and I got stuck with American Macro Lager.

However, it's a damned fine one. It pours an unusually burnt gold, the way a pilsner ought look, as opposed to the yellow fizzy that BMC does.
The smell too -- what is that? Why, it's grainy, light corn adjunct mixed with noble hops! Astounding!
It tastes like it smells. Cool, crisp and refreshing with a nice hop presence. However, there is an adjuncty nastiness at the very end that I can't say I appreciate. However, there are hops in the aftertaste as well.
It's the aftertaste that keeps this beer from getting high marks on drinkability. Not sure I'd want another one.

A nice fusion of American Macro Lager with genuine pilsner-style beer. Woulda been nice if they'd gone that extra mile, but still, not a bad beer at all.

This is called Horse Piss for a reason because it looks like a cup of urine. Virtually no head and cloudy in appearance this not pretty.

The scent is of tomatoes. Yes tomatoes. I passed it around and everyone got the same scent.

Drain pour enough said!

Served in a pint glass, the Horse Piss pours a hazy straw gold color with about an inch white head which went away very quickly. It smells like grain, citrus (lemon),and a bit of sweet malt. It has a weird bitter, sweet, and slightly sour taste all at once, but none of the flavors are really strong. I can taste grain more than anything else, and just a bit of lemon along with the bittersweet/sour taste. The mouthfeel is light but not totally watery. The drinkability is OK, it does go down easy. It's not awful, but it's not too good either.

A: Medium orange brown with some pretty big floaties, head is off white, and it mostly large bubbles that fade pretty fast.

S: Light taking a smell tour through adjunct city. Sweet with notes of corn, rice, and biscuit. Slightly earthy.

T: Sweet, with cooked vegetables. A hint of earthy hops, and a bit of funk in the finish.

M: To thick for the style and not carbonated enough for the style. Perhaps the two go hand and hand.

O: I have sent this as a gag extra in a lot of trades, but never actually tried it myself. This style isn't my favorite, and this beer is a poor representation of the style. It's a novelty, and not something I will ever drink again. However, it is still a great gag gift, which is my guess as to why it sells at all. Sub-Par in every way imaginable.

A very novelty of a name for this beer.

Straw colored body hosts an inch of off white head that only stays a couple of minutes. Wow... the nose does have a hint of... well piss, or at least ammonia, and notes of stable wet straw and wheat. As it enters the mouth I think of chewing on a piece of straw during a hay ride. Hop notes are very under developed and mellow. Mineral notes are plentiful. Mouthfeel is soft with clean rocky notes. Notes of raw beans come through on a second run through the palate. Overall easy to drink but hard to enjoy.

golden yellow with a thin off white head. Decent lace left behind from a sparkling clear liguid. A nice bit of carbonation bubbling up from the bottom. Smell was light, with the biggest hints coming from grain, and a nice bread tone. Slightly sour tones present as well, maybe some sour grape or apple. First impression was crisp and somewhat bitter. Nice play on the palate and a decent hopper aftertaste. Biggest flavors were by far malts and grains, with a musty bread flavor being the biggest factor here.

I poured into a pint glass to a half inch of quickly disappearing white head. It is a slightly hazy gold color. I get a metallic smell. Not good. I take a drink. Not good. It is just not good. I'm glad I only have a couple of them. It is more of a novelty than a beer. It is a good beer to pawn off on your drunken buddies.

Thanks to Clvand0 and SheepNutz for helping me figure out what was going on with this beer - it apparently was originally contract brewed by Viking, but production has now moved to BBC (which gets the barest credit on the label.) A link to horsepissbeer.com leads to a bare-bones web page stating that a portion of the proceeds goes to disabled jockeys and horse adoptions.

When I first saw the bottle, I thought this was some pretty bold marketing, because, with a name like this, you better have a good beer or else the jokes will be all too easy. It turned out to be the latter. Pale straw with an antiseptic pure white head. Corn adjunct sweet aroma. Flavor was dominated by strong cereal flavor, as though the beer had been steeped in Wheaties and Cheerios. Ghastly.

Prior reviews of the now-retired Viking version were relatively positive, so perhaps this beer is experiencing some initial shake-down problems. I hope so, because BBC otherwise is a pretty reliable brewery, I hate to see them associated with this poor effort.

received as a gift from relatives in Louisville. pours a cloudy yellow/orange. awfully cloudy for a lager. settles to no head. aroma is cereal grains mixed in with a little of that morning after frat party, beer-soaked floor smell. sour/acidic taste is pretty rough around the edges. nearly impossible to take sips without wincing. lots of carbonation gives it decent mouthfeel. only my pride keeps this from being a drainpour. not sure what went wrong from the normally solid Bluegrass Brewing. this is is definitely among the 3 worst beers i've ever had... what a perfect choice for my first ever review.

A - Bright nearly flourescent yellow, carbonation bubbles raging, gigantic white foam head. Odd gray sediment making its way to the bottom of the otherwise innocent glass.

S - Right fresh malty smell. Reminiscent of the smell at a macro brewery.

T - Sour, sulfur, metallic, fresh green peas and grassy. That's just from the first swallow. Second taste yields a ton of metallic taste with added sulfur fun.

M - Greasy with not too much aftertaste. Thankfully.

O - The name says it all. One of the few drain pours I've had in quite a while.

I liked this beer as a whole it was very refreshing. It has a light bronze but almost brass color. The aroma is sour and sweet that reminds me of fresh citrus. It has a grassy and fruity flavor that I found refreshing. The body is watery and has some bite. A good summer day beer.

Pours a slight hazy golden color. No head or lacing.

Aroma is non-descriptive from a smoker.

Slight corny graininess. Small hop bite. Overall fairly pleasant to taste.

Mouthfeel is light , carbonation is good.

Overall a pretty gimmicky beer , but easy drinking nonetheless .

Today Louisville/Churchill Downs hosted the Breeder's Cup and I drink this beer in it's honor.

Poured this 12 oz. undated brown bottle into a nonic. Body was a familiar golden yellow color, yet richer looking than your typical BMC product. Weak head faded in about 10 seconds.

Smell was a musty graininess. Slight corn aroma (horses eat corn).

Taste was a little sour. Pleasant mild bitterness. Vegetal sweetness was enough to balance the minor bitterness. The flavor and body falls out rather quickly.

Mouthfeel was mildly zippy. Body was watery but smooth and rounded when swallowed. This beer is a novelty, good for Derby parties and a laugh.

Thanks, I think, to my brother in law for bringing me some beer from Lexington on his last visit.
Pours apple juice in color with a bubbly head that recedes very rapidly. Smell is very lager like. Somewhat skunky and biscuity. Taste is very thin, light with almost no flavor whatsoever. This is colored water with carbonation. No beer flavors to be had at all. Not sure what the point of this beer is, but with a name like Horse Piss, they couldn't have been too serious about it.
