Thanks so much to pwoods for sharing his growler with me, and letting me review before him. Picked this one up at Party Town in Florence, KY, where they've been brewing with BBC for awhile now. This is the Rye 75 dry-hopped with 6 different varieties of hops.
Pours a nice, bright coppery brown, somewhat hazy, with lots of slow-moving carbonation bubbles rising throughout. The soft, white, foamy head is initially 2 solid fingers, and leaves lots of sticky rings and spots of lacing as it fades to a well-retained skim.
Nice hoppy punch in the nose. Aromas of citrus of most present, but the stringency of piney hops comes through as well. It also has a distinctly sweet smell, and a dry graininess.
The first thing noticed while drinking this beer is the creamy feel of the foam and how well it complements the very bold hop-forward taste of the beer. I get loads of grapefruit and super-sticky pine sap hops. The hops even have a bit of a peppery edge to them, they're so strong. There is only a hint of the underlying grains in this beer. They are sticky-sweet, but not too heavy. The feel of the beer is mildly carbonated, with a soft and moderate mouthfeel and slick oiliness thanks to the hops. Finish is fairly dry with just a little bit of stickiness on the palate.
Pretty darn drinkable. Very flavorful, smooth-drinking, and completely cheap ($7 for a growler!). You can't miss this if you're coming through the Cincy/NKY area.
