Served at 12 South CASKstravaganza. Aged in Jefferson's Reserve barrels. Served in shaker pint.
A- Very dark stained oak color. I got the first pour from the cask I was told- must have been roused somehow right before pouring because there was a lot of yeasty flakes in suspension. I'lll pretend it was brewed with flakes of gold cuz this is definitely the beer equivalent of Goldschlager. Sticky head.
S- A ton of bourbon and licorice. Very sweet. Esters shine on the back end showcasing some dark fruits. Bitter orange peel makes it's presence known.
T/M- Again sweet from the bourbon and malt. Absolute licorice bomb! Ends with a blend of caramel and dark fruits and a touch of sweeter milk chocolate. Also a lot of vanilla and oak mixed about the palate. Taste does follow nose closely. Pretty heavy with almost no carbonation from cask; smooth and silky.
O- This wa by far the best cask of the night. Many of us agreed this was just an outstanding beer all around and would love to see this bottled. I haven't had regular HfC, but the barrel aged rocked!
