English Brown Ale |  4.90% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
Nut Brown Ale has a diverse grain bill which lends this traditional English ale a variety of flavors that coalesce into a remarkably smooth and pleasant drink. Additions of various pale, caramel and dark malts create a smooth, sweet malt profile with hints of roasted nuttiness. Multiple additions of English hops round out the flavors and give this classic beer a true flavor of the Old World.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass.
Notched label with best before June, 06.
Once again thanks to kmpitz2 for this sample.

Pours a deep amber color with a one finger thick off white head. Very clear, head fades quickly, no lacing. Nice roasted nut smell, hints of molasses and roasted malt. Taste is similar to the smell, slighly bitter roasted nut taste. This beer also has some sort of chocolate malt/ chocolate lactose taste, kinda sour. It has a tootsie roll like aftertaste. Mouthfeel is a bit thin for me, decent amount of carbonation. Easy too drink, this is just not my favorite style of brew. Not bad, glad I had the chance to try it.

12 oz bottle, notched to show a bottle don date of April 2013, served in a snifter.
Hazy dark reddish brown body; small partial head despie a vigouous pour, and most of this is soon gone.
Aroma: about spot on for style, with a nice bit of nutty roasted grains as well as sweet malts and toffee.
Flavor: largely follows the aroma, but is a bit sweeter than expected.
Feel: light body is a bit too thin. Smooth.

O: allowed to warm before serving but not enough; it continued to improve with further warming.
