Style | ABV
English Brown Ale |  4.90% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
Nut Brown Ale has a diverse grain bill which lends this traditional English ale a variety of flavors that coalesce into a remarkably smooth and pleasant drink. Additions of various pale, caramel and dark malts create a smooth, sweet malt profile with hints of roasted nuttiness. Multiple additions of English hops round out the flavors and give this classic beer a true flavor of the Old World.

A - Dark brown/amber color. Pours a head that is light tan and dissipates pretty quickly but leaves a small ring around the glass. Lacing is quick to slide down and disappear into the beer after a drink.

S - Nutty, almost hazelnut. A nice aroma of caramel malt with a hint of coffee, chocolate, and hop goodness in the background. Very sweet!

T - Sweet malts and a definite strong nuttiness with chocolate undertones. Not unlike the taste of Brown Derby pie.

M - Creamy, but not thick. Not bad carbonation either. The malt and nut taste really stick around.

D - Very sweet, but not to the point of being a dessert beer. A little heavier than most ales, but lighter than a porter or stout.

12 oz bottle, notched to show a bottle don date of April 2013, served in a snifter.
Hazy dark reddish brown body; small partial head despie a vigouous pour, and most of this is soon gone.
Aroma: about spot on for style, with a nice bit of nutty roasted grains as well as sweet malts and toffee.
Flavor: largely follows the aroma, but is a bit sweeter than expected.
Feel: light body is a bit too thin. Smooth.

O: allowed to warm before serving but not enough; it continued to improve with further warming.
