Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a quarter finger khaki head that dissipates to a thin film with light lacing. Aroma of deep biscuit malt, dates, brown bread and hint of rye. Flavor follows, with bock style biscuit malt, brown bread, dates and dried dark fruit, a hint of dry caramel and once again a slight rey tartness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. This was another accidental cellaring, just found this bottle lost in the basement, but it has survived its long rest quite well. I suspect the flavors have thinned out a little and unlike other styles, there does not seem to be much more mellow smoothing with age, but it is still an authentic tasting big doppelbock that hits all the notes I'd hope for. Although I wouldn't deliberately age this style, I think this could hold up for a few more years. I've really enjoyed the Decadence series and liked this one too.

Poured from 25.4oz bottle into Pilsener glass. Bottled on September 17th 2013.

L: Foam came rising up the neck! Pours a murky brown, with a finger and a half of khaki head that slowly recedes into a thick layer.

S: Dark roasted malts, dark bread, some chewy molasses and caramel. Almost chocolatey. Really rich aroma and definitely a malt-bomb but I am not upset with that at all! Very invigorating aroma.

T: Again a ton of dark malt flavors, very bready, rich caramel and molasses, a faint dark fruit note, very nice. Not Ayinger Celebrator but nice nonetheless.

F: Medium body, below average carbonation, but that could be the age and a clean finish.

O: A very good beer, the booze seems to have faded because I can't pick it up anywhere. A good showcase for the style and an above average Doppelbock.

Bottled 9/2013. Pours a dark brown with a 1 finger tan head. Spotty lacing. Aroma is heavy with heavy malts, burnt caramel, and dark bread. Flavor is very malty and not in a sweet way; very little hops if any remain. A big dark bread taste with some burnt caramel. I wonder how many malts were used in this? Medium feel with lighter carbonation. Enjoyable brew after 3 years.

Pours a slightly hazy dark chestnut brown color with dark apricot edges and a one finger off-white head that quickly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.

Slightly spicy aroma with chocolate, banana and faint malty sweetness. Pepper and clove followed by caramel, chocolate covered banana and toffee. There's a touch of vinous fruit in there as well.

Medium body with slight creamy texture and a nice balance of earthy spice and chocolate and caramel malt sweetness. Hints of clove and ground pepper with faint piney hop bitterness countered by caramel malt, toffee and chocolate. Bready yeast presence with some banana and bubblegum with a spicy dry finish. Decently balanced and very easy to drink. Subtle alcohol heat in the finish but overall the 10% ABV is very well masked. Not overly complex but this is another enjoyable beer from AleSmith.

1.5 years old. Picked up in Palm Desert. Both the aroma and taste are quite fruity with semi-rich taste. The fruits are kinda' non-distinct and the high alcohol level is not apparent. Smaller head and somewhat cloudy amber body (towards reds and golds). Nice feel with a bigger than moderate feel, fairly soft, lower carbonation and a bit of slickness.
Just a touch of age on this with some oxidation, more to the better than not.

Delicious mix of honey, raisin and fig flavors. Malty and smooth. Big head recedes to a dark coppery brown color. Too bad it's gone forever.

Two fingers worth of late to develop perfectly uniform audibly fizzy khaki colored fluffy frothy goodness.... Good retention gives way to a perfectly even blanket of slightly delicate lacing with a very thin collar... The color is a slightly murky medium brown... A limited bit of sluggish carbonation can be seen towards the top of the glass... The aroma is down right heavenly... An unbridled malt bomb... Rich dark breads... Caramel... More rich dark breads... More caramel... Dark fruits... Some faint chocolate notes... The nose is a wonderful indication of what's to come on the palate... The only difference is a slight hint of booziness... Hides the 10% ABV rather well... This is an outstanding world class brew that if you can still find a bottle of is worth every penny you would pay for it... If you can't tell, I absolutely love this beer... I'm a huge fan boy for Alesmith, but this is one of, if not, their best... The best beer I've had in ages...
