Notes/Commercial Description:
Each Halloween we release this special concoction to celebrate one of our favorite holidays. Deep blood-red in color, an intense aroma of pine and citrus from an abundance of American hops balances the sweetness and rich, bready flavors of this beer's caramel malts. The result is a fiendishly smooth brew that will make your taste buds scream with delight.

This beer pairs excellently with toffee, caramel apples, or your favorite horror flick.

Poured from the bottle into a stemless wine glass.

Deep red amber, dark brown on the outside, with a big ruby darkness to it. Head is creamy tan, with three fingers and settling down to a half finger head.

Good simple caramel aroma. Mild toast with a solid thick sweetness. Mild hop action, but pretty indistinct and not particularly obvious. Definitely amber solid.

Palate comes pretty straight forward and good for an amber. Caramel sweetness with a nice thick coating. Mild hints of pine astringency on the finish to match. Good coating with a bit of resin quality. Not really so much citrus on the nose that the bottle hints at.

It's a solid straightforward amber, but lacks much of the West coast hop character that Alesmith is definitely know for. Not an old beer either, but a solid amber.

Kind of like Justin Turner, this bad boy may just be "The Red Dream." Super lush - with a hint of juice - caramel flavors burst at every olfactory hole you have and coat your mouth like a volcanic burst of hoppy/malt goodness. Raul is feelin this like a deep tissue with hot stones. Raul is feelin' this like a Yasiel Puig walk off...

Oh my.

22 ozBomber.Smell of Hops and citrus. The taste is hops and grapefruit with a touch of sour. The sour to me was a little surprising.Nice blood red color and the ABV is 6.66.This is not a bad beer but not near as good as say Imperial red from Lagunitas or Hop head red from green flash. To much gimmick not enough stuff.

Another of my cellared purchases from last year, this one more overlooked since then than deliberately aged, bought at the end of November 2013, bottled 9/10/13 for consumption by Halloween that year. Supposed to be heavily hopped but by now I'm expecting little in the way of the promised citrus and pine hop flavor.

Fun Halloweenish bottle art of zombies on the stumble through a graveyard with the beer name in bloody red.

a: Translucent copper with a finger thick beige head which receded to uneven surface foam and dense lacing.

s: A pleasing combination of ripe dark fruit and caramel malt.

t: Just as the aroma suggested, with an added hop bite which persists to the aftertaste but mellows out and becomes more malt-dominated later.

m: Medium with good body and lots of carbonation tingle.

o: Enjoyable barleywinelike flavor combo in a lower ABV brew. As such it is tasty as well as sessionable. Sure to please even the evil dead despite being a year-old "shelf turd."
