Notes/Commercial Description:
Each Halloween we release this special concoction to celebrate one of our favorite holidays. Deep blood-red in color, an intense aroma of pine and citrus from an abundance of American hops balances the sweetness and rich, bready flavors of this beer's caramel malts. The result is a fiendishly smooth brew that will make your taste buds scream with delight.

This beer pairs excellently with toffee, caramel apples, or your favorite horror flick.

Had this on tap at City Beer's Alesmith event during SF beer week.
This beer is an Imperial Red and 6.66%. It poured a beautiful deep copper red. It smelled like hops, grapefruit, citrus, and grass. It tasted very floral, citrus, with some sweet malt character. It was not that bitter- it was more malty than bitter.

22oz for $4.50

A: Deep brownish amber with almost purple qualities to it. Aggressive cream colored head. Really like the color on this one its almost pretty!

S: Sweet malts abound, orange peel, raspberries, piney hops, and malt biscuit

T: Sweet malt hits the tongue followed by fig, grapefruit, orange, pine hops, slight blackberry, and citrus pine! Super tasty brew!

M: Medium body, slight cloying that is just barely there, hops dance spicy on teh tongue then dries out smooth!

O: Another great brew from Alesmith! Hoppier then most ambers but you won't see me complaining. Really starting to enjoy this hoppy sub genre of ambers recently and i think this is the best yet. That being said it's not one of Alesmtih's best but that still puts it head and shoulders above most other beers. It really good just not all the way there like My bloody valentine or their IPA. Still a great brew that you should try!

On tap at the 07 Speedway BA Release. Lots of growlers being filled up. I can see why, it was a stunning brew. Rich amber color, nice hop, malt, floral deep aroma. Very balanced, no alc noticable. Very easy drinker. Complex, for some reason it seemed like Pliny meets YuleSmith. Thus very high quality. Keg only, hope to see it around town very soon for a second go!

Big thanks to PretzelCity who sent me a growler straight from the brewery. Enjoyed with a friend over the course of football game, but reviewed prior to kickoff... Pours pure ruby red with exceptional clarity and a perfect 2 finger off-white head. The head had excellent retention throughout the enjoyment of the beer. The smell is as enticing, if not more, than the appearance. A sweet malt backbone is supported by a fresh hops smell and accompanying citrus characteristics, specifically grapefruit. I love the blend of strong hop character with the classic sweet malt in a red ale. Taste follows suit, a more pronounced citrus hop flavor twinges the tongue, but does not overpower the caramel sweetness of the malt. It almost like having a grapefruit candy or something, the flavor is sweet, but the citrus tart adds a nice twist. A smooth, and light mouthfeel, supported by ample carbonation makes it an easy drinking beer. I really enjoyed this beer, and wish we had it on tap in these parts, as it has more to it than you average red ale, while not overdoing it and sacrificing drinkability.

Had on tap at Lucky Baldwin's in Pasadena. Clear deep red in the pint glass with a nice, fluffy head. Excellent lacing.

Lots of pine and floral scents from the hops mingle awkwardly with candied fruit.

Taste begins with a fruity caramel malt. The piney hops then come into play and contrast rather badly. Finishes with a candy-like fruit and hop flavor.

As much as I wanted to really like this one (anything named after the almighty Evil Dead trilogy should be amazing), I didn't. Quite a dissapointment.

Enjoyed at the Stone World Bistro, out of a Pint Glass.

A – Crimson red is a nice way to describe the color of this beer, just looks menacing. Nice mahogany head that leaves a lot of lacing which is very attractive.

S - Nice rich hop character; oranges, grapefruit, and a little mango maybe. There is nice sweet malt, maybe on the boarder of a caramel smell also. Just fantastic.

T – Wow, this is just complex from the front to the back. Nice citrus hop character, a little sweet malt adds to this and makes it more enjoyable. A little spice also, but not overwhelming.

M – Medium in body, perfection of a beer. Nice creaminess that just adds to this as its enjoyed.

O – I try and have this every fall, its very enjoyable. Wish Alesmith would bottle this and make it a seasonal release in 12oz bottles in 6 packs. Would love to share this with others.

bottle date 9/10/2013, poured into standard pint glass. Pours a deep murky auburn, almost brown, with a tawny light brown head--definitely looks like a beer for a night of mischief and trickery.

aroma- fragrant fresh pine and sweet citrus atop of sweet caramel; chocolate and rich toasted notes

taste- hop presence with pine resin and floral notes and subtle dank citrus. Lush, sweet caramel malt-delicious- with caramel and toffee, sticky, raisins and dark fruits as it warms. Finishes nice and dry and toasty with orangey hop zest and and tinge of lemon on the sides of the tongue

feel-fairly medium-full bodied, booze detectable, sticky, resinous. really nice

What a great beer! Fragrant zesty hops and complex, big malt sweetness. As far as ambers go, this has far more personality and... balls than most. Hops and malt both jump out onto the palate. I might take this over Nugget Nectar, as it offer a bit more malt profile (like an amber should?). cheers, ghouls and misfits!

Bomber poured into Stella Artois chalice

A: Pours a deep ruby redish brown with a creamy light brown head that laces beautifully.

S: Citrus and tropical fruit hops backed with roasted malt.

T: Nice citrus and tropical fruit hop hit with a little pineapple mango and candied orange, some floral hop notes and caramel malt sweetness, and a coffee hit and bitterness on the finish.

M: Medium to heavy body, almost creamy, with moderate carbonation.

O: Wasn't expecting coffee in this one but it is a nice surprise. Gotta love this one. And get at least a chuckle out of the abv%
