Pours a bright golden with a nice fluffy white head that laces the glass all the way down to the bottom of the glass. Big lemony hop nose with grass and spicy saazish tones. Lighter malt is present but in the background aromas. Not the most on spot scents for the style but still very appetizing. Grassy an citrusy lemon hop tones highlight the flavors in this one. Crisp lemony hops open the brew up and are everpresent all the way through to the end. A mellow and light malty sweetness is sensed only by the balancing presence that it brings to the brew and the slight lingering residual sweetness. Light bodied and perfect for the summertime. I usually prefer my APA's to have a bit more body than this one does though. Besides the fact that this is definitely not what I would consider true to style due to it's lightness and golden ale type qualities it is still a damn fine beer and is awesomely drinkable. This must be perfectly suited for quaffing on a warm summer day in San Diego. A big thanks to the LongBeachBum for the sample.

Pours clear-ish gold with pure white creamy head of about 2 fingers that slowly dissipates and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit, pine, and something spicy that I'm not sure of. Taste is not fruity at all, bitter, spice in the nose turns out to be oniony kind of thing that finally gets piney for a split second, then sweetens up with some malt at the end. Has a lingering bitterness that is enjoyable. Mouthfeel is just ok. Overall, being my first Alesmith beer, I'm a little disappointed.
