This beer is the culmination of the efforts of two world-class brewers to create the most vitalizing coffee stout in the world. AleSmith and good friend Mikkeller join forces, blending the legendary Speedway Stout and Beer Geek Brunch Weasel together into one massive imperial oatmeal stout with enough coffee and oats to substitute for your weekend brunch.

One of my major wants, being reviewed and enjoyed for my 2200th review on Beer Advocate. As always, I'll do my best to be impartial.
Pours black with a finger and a half of caramel-colored foam. Head formation is impressive out of a 5-year-old bottle. Head retention is good, leaving a lasting ring of foam around the top of the beer for a long while. Aroma is nutty, toffee, caramel and roasty qualities up front that mingle with coffee. Coffee is fading, but still present. Coffee carries a heavy roasty quality. Just beyond the initial smatterboard of flavors is roasty and toasty malts that come through in a big way, with a little nutty, earthy malt behind. That roastiness in the coffee and underlying stout hit with a little extra bitterness. Flavor profile is, well, exactly what would be expected after consuming Mikkeller's Beer Geek Breakfast and Alesmith's Speedway for years. It's coffee forward, although not coffee centric, using the coffee to elevate the flavor profile and not drive the flavor profile. Of course, this could vary based on the age of this stout. Coffee is roasty, mingling with notes of nutty, earthy, roasty and toasty malts. Caramel, dark chocolate and molasses add a little sweetness, just enough to take the edge off the bitter bite out of the roasty qualities. Alcohol is mute in this conversation, blending into the mix well. Mouth feel is creamy and decadent while being carried by a medium-thick to thick consistency. More thick as it warms. Consistency is such that makes it dangerously slippery considering the ABV content, while still providing a little presence. Overall, this stout brings to light both Mikkeller's and Alesmith's strengths in blending stouts with coffee, while retaining a sip-able balance.
Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 750mL bottle.

Bottle shared by Matthew. Thank you! Really dry finish. Chalky, lots of oatmeal character.

Received this one in a trade.
A pour produces a deep impenetrable black brew with a thick foamy tan head. I never tire of the light stealing black brew in the chalice that sits before me.
An amazing nose of coffee and imperial stout. The coffee is powerful in this one and takes over.
The taste comprises of liquorice, dark chocolate, cold coffee and a beautiful velvety stout. Perfect!
Great thick mouthfeel. Overall awesome beer! One of the better coffee infused imperial stouts that I have had in a while.

Appearance: Quite an impressive pour which I will ascribe to the Mikkeller influence (rightly or wrongly); the pitch black liquid is capped by a massive quantity of beige foam; stickage is excellent and plenty of lacing completes the picture
Smell: Very roasty and has that fruity quality I associate with espresso; chocolate, coffee and an oatmeal raisin cookie aspect
Taste: Roast, chocolate and bitter, roasty coffee forward, with the roasted aspect building; underneath, if you can sneak a peak underneath all the roast, is the brown sugar and oatmeal raisin cookie; the roasted coffee bean aspect returns, after the swallow, and dominates the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied but, at the same time, has that delicate Belgian character; moderate carbonation
Overall: I like my coffee flavors more delicate and am very sensitive to over-roasted coffee beans; there is a lot to like here but the roast is a bit much
Thanks, mabermud, for the opportunity

Pours a very dark brown, almost black. Smells of sticky fruits, treacle and dark chocolate. Tastes bitter, syrupy, VERY sweet, dense, raisin, sticky fruits, little to no carbonation, coffee-bitterness. Intense and flavourful beer.
