A classic Scotch Ale. Scotch ales are typically sweet and malty, with a very subdued dose of hops– just enough to provide balance. AleSmith Wee Heavy is a wonderful interpretation of this traditional Scotch style.

Poured from the 750mL bottle into a large snifter.
A: The beer is a very dark brown with faint touches of amber here and there shining through when held to strong light. Head is tan and reached 2.5/3 fingers and has good retention.
S: The smell of this beer is exactly what I have grown to love from the maltier end of the spectrum. Nice big roasted note with dark bread and hints of caramel. Slight booziness and then a nice dark fruit note with some spices, almost fruitcake-like in depth. Excellent.
T: A lot to pick out here. Big roasted character, and a whisky note. Plenty of rich bready malt and a hint of molasses. Caramel comes in for a bit and then becomes a bigger toffee note. Alcohol makes itself noticed and felt over the course of the whole sip and the effect is like drinking what I would imagine whisky ice cream might taste like, boozy but creamy at the same time. Like Rum cake, but with Scotch whisky instead. Cool.
M: Super smooth and a bit drying from the alcohol at the end. Very good.
Overall: Definitely recommended. Alesmith fails to disappoint again. This would go brilliantly with a dessert or with a cigar (as many have pointed out). I'll pick this up next time and give that a go.

2022. Bought for ~13$ at Alesmith's brewery in San Diego, CA for a beer tasting with my buddy Ron. Just a few quick notes because during these tastings I don't spend too much time writing.
A&S: Not much head on this one. Brown black colored beer. The aroma is sweet with hints of oranges.
T&M: Very easy to drink. The taste is peet, black licorice, and butterfingers. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation.
Overall: I would recommend it.

A 1 pint 9.4 fl. oz. foiled and capped bottle, with no clear bottled on or best before date. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: A cloudy amber copper orange colour with very thin beige head that dissipated quickly, while leaving some lacing.
Aroma: Dark fruit, prunes, caramel, toffee, booze, with a light roast and a hint of chocolate.
Taste: Sweet malt, light roast, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, prunes, brown sugar, with light notes of chocolate.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with light to moderate carbonation.
Overall: A nice sipper with good flavours.

750 ml bottle, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 10%. Very dark ruby colour, nearly black. Low beige head. Aroma of malts, dark dried fruits / prunes and caramel, maybe a hint of smoke. Very rich and malty flavour, again with caramel and prunes, and maybe a hint of smoke. Powerful stuff.
