I can't believe I haven't had this beer until today.Pours a deep amber brown with a creamy light tannish colored head atop.Brown sugar and some meatiness in the nose, dark fruit makes it a full on malt dominated aroma.Dark fruit and caramel flavors with more sweet alcohol on top of it,very buttery with mild earth in the finish.A big sipping beer here with great full on flavors.

A - Pours dark burgundy mahogany with a creamy, toffee colored layer of foam.

S - Plums, raisons, brown sugar, and toffee.

T - Follows the nose - dark fruit, plums raisons, some brown sugar, toffee malt, light creaminess, and some mild booziness with very mild pine bite at the end.

M - Thick, heavy medium body, velvety smooth in texture.

O - Not a style I prefer but this one is an enjoyable deviation from what I normally drink.

Nose: Not big, fresh baked dark bread crust, plum, raisins and dark sugar.
Very dark but brilliant ruby tinged chestnut under a 2" very finely bubbled foam cap that descends to a thick, clingy film. Rouses easy, lacy and has legs.
Palate: A surprisingly interesting, subtle and balanced flavor profile for a beer so big and bold. Begins with rich malt with dark caramel to toffee, a suggestion of dark fruit such as plums and raisins and a light hop finish. Faint smoke.
Chewy, exceptionally creamy. medium low carbonation but very soft with a very fine bead. Some warming but not a lot for such a big beer.

22 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a beautiful, deep, dark, completely opaque, mahogany color, with a quarter of a finger of white head that quickly dissolved away into a thin lacing of foam that completely covered the top of the beer.

Aroma: Very aromatic. Tons of molasses, malt, toffee and dried stone fruit.

Taste: Wow, very strong flavors of dried stone fruit, roasted malt, dark molasses and brown sugar.

Mouthfeel: A little chewy and pretty smooth, as there is very little carbonation. With an ABV of 10%, there is a very pleasant touch of alcohol warmth on the palate.

Overall: This is a damn good wee heavy, but it reminds me more of a Belgian strong ale than a wee heavy. It’s certainly more different than other wee heavy that I’ve had. Still, it’s a damn delicious beer!

Alesmith Wee Heavy
Poured from a bomber into a stemmed tulip glass and shared with friends

Pours clear and very deep, dark brown with a thin creamy head that falls fast and leaving bits of lacing. This beer has a massive nose full of ripe pit fruit (prunes, plums) and raisins, sweet chocolate and caramel. On the palate, the rich, dark fruit stars, but lots of sweet chocolate and milky nugget. The finish dries out a bit and ends relatively clean, a really nice surprise! It has medium body and low carbonation leaving this beer smooth and silky. A really nice wee heavy!
