750ml capped bottle traded to me from user G311. thanks again vince! drank from my duvel tulip.
A- the pour yields a slightly hazy golden orange colored body with a finger and a half of bright white head on top. the head lasts for a while before falling and leaves behind complete circles of lacing. very nice.
S- the first things i pick out of the notes are stone fruits. peaches and apricots mostly. there is also a hint of pear. light belgian candi sugar adds to the already sweet smelling mix. pale malts and a little bit of wheat move in next. coriander, clove and black pepper spiciness. floral and herbal hops.
T- the taste begins with more of the pale malts and belgian yeast that i could smell before moving onto the fruits. pear, apricot, peach, and banana. clove and coriander spices follow those. a little bit of alcohol mixes with herbal, spicy, and leafy hops at the end.
M- the body is on the lighter side of medium. the carbonation is just right. slight warming from the alcohol, but at 11% ABV its still very well hidden.
O- the strength of this one really crept up on me. its probably too much beer for one person to enjoy due to the strength, but i did it. id buy this again if it were on the shelf around here. one of the better american examples of a classic belgian style that ive had in a long time.

On tap at the Blind Lady Alehouse on the 4th of July in San Diego.
Appearance: Excellent clarity in the amber body. Small but semi-durable white head. Head leaves some sticky streaks and spots on the glass.
Aroma: Sweet biscuits, yeast and faint tropical notes.
Flavor: Fruity, slightly tart, mildly bitter. Banana and clove evident, as is the higher ABV. Seemed to have a narrow tempeature range for optimal flavor and balance. Moderate complexity. Relatively good finish and aftertaste.
Feel: Light-medium body with medium+ carbonation. ABV mostly evident.
O: true Belgian style and quality.
Serving type: on-tap
