On-tap at Hollingshead's, this is AleSmith's Valentine's Day beer. I finally had a chance to try it this time. On to the beer:
Like really dark red blood, that's the color of this beer. Some lacing from the head sticks on the glass. The hoppiness is present with a pleasant citrus flavor in both the aroma and taste, but the maltiness throwns a curveball at the palate compared to your usual amber ale. Instead of being caramel laden, it's more of a toasted/burnt bread flavor with a dash of coffee. Slightly astringent, and dry in the aftertaste with a faint tropical flavor.
Who makes beer for Valentine's Day? That's a day for eating chocolate, but if you want your daily pint, My Bloody Valentine can fill that need.
