My Bloody Valentine pours a deep copper color. It’s very clear. Backlighting gives it a brighter scarlet look. It’s topped with a really nice off-white head. It rises to about a finger and a half in height. Retention was good. It stuck around for a while. Lacing was very sticky and think. Good looking stuff.

The nose kicks with a really nice caramel malt scent. It definitely smells a little sweet. There are some toasted and chocolate malt notes, as well. Smells like a nice combo. The chocolate variety has a nice cocoa scent. It’s definitely hoppy. The hops smell mostly floral. Pine is very pronounced. Grass is also noted. It’s tough to tell if falls on the malty or hoppy side of the fence. Alcohol is blended well and doesn’t come through strong. Smells good!

I like the flavor quite a bit. The malt base is very flavorful and sturdy. It’s a really nice combo of caramel, chocolate, and toasted malts. It’s a bit sweet and sugary. The cocoa flavor is very tasty! Hops are very much in the mix. They mostly taste piney and floral. It’s not very bitter. The malts provide a lot of balance. I was expecting it to be a little hoppier, but it’s well balanced. Alcohol isn’t much of a factor at all. Given its abv, that’s not too shocking. Finishes malty and piney. Very tasty!

My Bloody Valentine has a medium body. Carbonation is light and soft. It feels nice and smooth. Definitely goes down easy. Far too easy. I could handle a couple of these bombers. Impressive.

Alesmith Brewing Company is one of those breweries that seems to never let me down. I’m not sure they’ve ever brewed even an average beer. My Blood Valentine is another fine release. It’s a very well balanced Red Ale that’s incredibly drinkable. Very glad to finally find it in Ohio. Easy recommendation!

a clean but very deep amber, almost brown. 2 fingers of beige colored head which dissipated slowly and left behind some great lacing. the smell is like a hop infused caramel. lots of sweet caramel malt with west coast piney hop profile. tangy citrusy hops fill your palate with all that was desired, the sweet caramel backbone balances everything out nicely. a medium body beer with mild carbonation, leaves a nice resiny feel on the lips.

this one is right on par with the rest of alesmith's ipa's. the artwork on the bottle is also pretty awesome.

What an awesome looking bottle!

Pours out an extremely deep, dark amber with tons of ruby highlights throughout and an off-white head.

The aroma is packed with hops; citrus, grapefruit, resinous and pine followed by toffee and caramel notes.

The taste is also dominated by hops with some nice tropical and citrus hop notes followed by a dank pine and there is enough toffee and caramel malt notes to balance out the bitterness. There are some light biscuit notes, but this is very hop forward.

The body is medium and the mouthfeel is slightly creamy. It's very smooth and extremely easy to drink.

This is a really nice Red Ale and probably my current favorite! This has a ton of flavor without being overwhelming and the ABV isn't too high either.

Appearance: Pours a beautiful dark caramel/molasses red with a creamy tan head that dissipates somewhat fast.

Smell: toasted malts, hops, maybe a caramel toasted coffee scent,

Mouthfeel: light to medium bodied, with some carbonation. leaves the tongue slightly dry.

Taste: Hop forward with malt in the middle, and finishes dry like an IPA. I am getting again that slight coffee flavor like roasted fresh beans. this is not very present but maybe I am going crazy.

Overall: This is a good beer but nothing very special for the style. There are way better hoppy red ales out there. Tocobaga to name just one

Shazzam! This is great beer! Poured perhaps slightly too cold. Immediate hop aroma upon opening. Poured with a giant, foamy, frothy, thick, light tan head that slowly settles and lots of lace. Color is a clear amber red with some tiny bubble trails. Aroma is a very heady balanced, fresh blend of caramel malt and hop that was mostly pine with a little grapefruit. Flavor's like nose, slightly roasty (which i love), dominated by the hop and just balanced enough by the malt and carbonic tang. Body/carbonation are faultless. Finish is like flavor, long, and just a tad medicinal. Very drinkable

poured into tulip glass.

Appearance: dark murky red bodied beer with 3 fingers of a dirty tan colored head. The head is loaded with big and clumpy bubbles. The glass get loaded with lacing.

Smell: Bready and caramel malts. Pine and minty hop notes.

Taste: Pine and grapefruit rinds. Chalky tasting hops. Little bit of caramel malts and biscuit dough flavor. Nice balance with hop and malt profile.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Easy drinking beer for sure.

Overall: This beers is okay. Nothing mind blowing, but its definately a beer of Alesmith well know quality. It reminds me of MBC Zoe, but just doesnt taste quite as good.

A: Poured from the bomber into a Harpoon pint glass. Body is clear reddish-amber with a 2-finger bubbly light-tan/beige colored head that sticks around with good staying power and leaves behind thick rings of lace.

S: Very nice for this style - a modest caramel and bready malt is overwhelmed by juicy, citrusy grapefruit with a hint of pine.

T: First impression is more about the mouthfeel than the taste - it's thinner in heft than expected and not very creamy; for some reason that big head made me think it would be more creamy than it is. Ah well, so it goes. . . . As for the flavors: it's big on the grapefruit juice, with some underpinnings of caramel malt. Also some leafy, herbal, tea-like impressions. Early on I also seem to get a touch of wet cardboard on the aftertaste, but after a few sips it seems gone; it may have been my imagination. . . .

M: Call it medium in heft, though on the lighter side of that description, with a slightly thin feel to it. Carbonation is on the lower end of things.

O: Good stuff and an easy drinker.
