What an awesome looking bottle!

Pours out an extremely deep, dark amber with tons of ruby highlights throughout and an off-white head.

The aroma is packed with hops; citrus, grapefruit, resinous and pine followed by toffee and caramel notes.

The taste is also dominated by hops with some nice tropical and citrus hop notes followed by a dank pine and there is enough toffee and caramel malt notes to balance out the bitterness. There are some light biscuit notes, but this is very hop forward.

The body is medium and the mouthfeel is slightly creamy. It's very smooth and extremely easy to drink.

This is a really nice Red Ale and probably my current favorite! This has a ton of flavor without being overwhelming and the ABV isn't too high either.

Appearance: Pours a beautiful dark caramel/molasses red with a creamy tan head that dissipates somewhat fast.

Smell: toasted malts, hops, maybe a caramel toasted coffee scent,

Mouthfeel: light to medium bodied, with some carbonation. leaves the tongue slightly dry.

Taste: Hop forward with malt in the middle, and finishes dry like an IPA. I am getting again that slight coffee flavor like roasted fresh beans. this is not very present but maybe I am going crazy.

Overall: This is a good beer but nothing very special for the style. There are way better hoppy red ales out there. Tocobaga to name just one

Shazzam! This is great beer! Poured perhaps slightly too cold. Immediate hop aroma upon opening. Poured with a giant, foamy, frothy, thick, light tan head that slowly settles and lots of lace. Color is a clear amber red with some tiny bubble trails. Aroma is a very heady balanced, fresh blend of caramel malt and hop that was mostly pine with a little grapefruit. Flavor's like nose, slightly roasty (which i love), dominated by the hop and just balanced enough by the malt and carbonic tang. Body/carbonation are faultless. Finish is like flavor, long, and just a tad medicinal. Very drinkable

poured into tulip glass.

Appearance: dark murky red bodied beer with 3 fingers of a dirty tan colored head. The head is loaded with big and clumpy bubbles. The glass get loaded with lacing.

Smell: Bready and caramel malts. Pine and minty hop notes.

Taste: Pine and grapefruit rinds. Chalky tasting hops. Little bit of caramel malts and biscuit dough flavor. Nice balance with hop and malt profile.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Easy drinking beer for sure.

Overall: This beers is okay. Nothing mind blowing, but its definately a beer of Alesmith well know quality. It reminds me of MBC Zoe, but just doesnt taste quite as good.

A: Poured from the bomber into a Harpoon pint glass. Body is clear reddish-amber with a 2-finger bubbly light-tan/beige colored head that sticks around with good staying power and leaves behind thick rings of lace.

S: Very nice for this style - a modest caramel and bready malt is overwhelmed by juicy, citrusy grapefruit with a hint of pine.

T: First impression is more about the mouthfeel than the taste - it's thinner in heft than expected and not very creamy; for some reason that big head made me think it would be more creamy than it is. Ah well, so it goes. . . . As for the flavors: it's big on the grapefruit juice, with some underpinnings of caramel malt. Also some leafy, herbal, tea-like impressions. Early on I also seem to get a touch of wet cardboard on the aftertaste, but after a few sips it seems gone; it may have been my imagination. . . .

M: Call it medium in heft, though on the lighter side of that description, with a slightly thin feel to it. Carbonation is on the lower end of things.

O: Good stuff and an easy drinker.

A: The beer is clear dark garnet red in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger and a half high beige colored head that took a very long time to die down and left a coating of bubbles on the surface and down the sides of the glass.
S: There are moderate aromas of floral hops in the nose along with some notes of tangerines as well as some hints of caramel malts. Aromas of pine resin are also initially noticeable but these disappear as the beer warms up.
T: Hops also stand out in the overall taste, but aren't quite as dominant as the nose because there is a strong backing of caramel malts that contribute some notes of sweetness (to contrast with a light amount of hop bitterness) and hints of toasted malts.
M: It feels medium-bodied and rather smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a great balance between hops and malts and is rather easy to drink. It seems more like a hybrid between an amber ale and an IPA.
