Cool looking bottle with silver foil.
Undated 750ml bottle, no freshness date.
Poured into a snifter glass.
Inky black in color. Absolutely no light could pass through. A nice two finger thick, tan colored head forms. Some spotty lacing is left behind. Big aromas of dark fruits, mostly prunes, dark chocolate and alcohol. Coffee smell is not present. Taste starts with big roasted malts and dark, bitter chocolate. Finishes with a slight hoppy bitterness combined with the warm alcohol feeling. This stout does have a great coffee aftertaste. Super enjoyable, for such a big beer. Rich, smooth and creamy descibe the mouthfeel. This beer is going down way too good and way too fast. I cannot believe how easy this beer is too drink. I knocked down the drinkability due to the 12% abv. Other than that, this is near perfect. My second offering from AleSmith and another fine example. A must try!
