Picked this up a few months ago
Poured in to my Portsmouth tulip
A: This beer pours an opaque black with a two finger of rich, rocky, creamy, mocha colored head. Head retains nicely and leaves clumps of lacing on the glass.
S: Nose is roasted, burned, and charred malts, licorice, milk chocolate, and a minor hint of alcohol.
T: Taste starts with a dose of milk chocolate that quickly moves in to a bitter baker's chocolate. Licorice and dark fruit then start to creep in to fill out the middle, come cherry and...can't figure out the other flavoring though. Charred, burnt malts really finish this out with a bit of espresso, and some smoked oak flavoring. Some alcohol burn on the way down.
M: Full body, low carbonation, rich, silky, creamy body.
D: Somewhat filling, great kick, great representation of style, this is a phenomenal stout that I wish I had a few more bottles of!
