Appearance-Pours an extremely dark but not 'quite' black chocolate brown, a fluffy milk-chocolate head rises up and slowly recedes back down to a thick film. Leaves good lacing.
Aroma-Chocolate and dark roasted malts upfront, mellow coffee in the background as well as the faintest hint of vanilla, some booze but only a touch.
Taste-Chocolate up front first much like the aroma mingling with roasted malt, the coffee cuts in mid palette with an acidic character alongside some slight bittering hoppiness to bring balance. Finishes dry-ish with notes of roast and black coffee.
Mouthfeel-Luscious and drippingly thick with low-end levels of carbonation; perfect.
Overall-An excellent stout and more than deserving of its status as among the best.
