Poured from a 750ml Alesmith bottle into a North Coast nonic pint glass.
Sweet Molasses Batman a black, black, motor oil beer with two beautiful fingers of caramel brown foam.
This nose says malt to me. Lovely hints of chocolate and blackened grains. There are sweet notes of caramel as well, maybe the smell of melted sugar, the kind you glue ginger bread houses together with.
Phenomenal mouthfeel! Not as thick as I had anticipated, especially in relation to the other imperial stouts I've drank. The carbonation really plays out in this creamy stout, terribly enjoyable.
It is truly a privilege to drink this beer. There is a wonderful balance of bitter notes, not only from the hops, but also a wonderful taste of bitter dark chocolate. A residual sweetness pervades, this sweet flavor reminds me of some of the milk stouts I've had in the past. More like a cappuccino than black coffee. Little to no alcohol bite.
This beer is dangerously drinkable considering its ABV. Give me another soon please.
