Thank you, thank you, thank you bamadog for being such a great friend and BA, and, of course, for sharing your Speedway Stout with me. Poured from the bomber into pint glasses.
Appearance: Dark and thick black with a 1 1/2 finger thick tan head. Really great head retention, filled with bubbles, leaving behind tremendous lacing.
Smell: Mouthwatering smell full of roasted mocha, dry coffee beans, chewy caramel malts and a surprising slight floral hoppiness.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Wow - definitely not what I expected, but that's what's great and sets this stout apart. An overwhelming bright hop presence dominates the palate initially, giving way to a slightly bitter, dry coffee ground presence with some dark, syrupy, chewy malts and fruitiness. A little hint of iron flavor comes through, like what you taste when you bite your lip and it bleeds. Big alcohol in the aftertaste is quite hot and warming.
Drinkability: Not too high, pretty unbalanced and big. I think I'd like it with 3-5 years age on it.
Serving type: bottle
