AleSmith to IL, hallelujah!
A: Gorgeous, delicious perfection. For the style and in general one of the best looking beers I've seen. Pours dark dark brown and sits midnight black. Huge, tight bubble, pillowy, creamy mocha head. Incredible retention and lacing.
S: FRESH coffee jumps out and does not assault, but courts the nose - taking it on a journey through rich milk chocolate, bitter dark chocolate, roasted fresh oily espresso beans, gooey toasted caramel and very slight dark fruits. The balance is incredible.
T: Incredibly rich and perfectly balanced. 12abv!? only in granger. MIlk chocolate, incredibly fresh coffee, caramel, dark chocolate, espresso, roasted malts.
P: Full bodied and outlandishly smooth. Frightfully drinkable. Velvet carbonation.
O: The best coffee stout and top 3 non-BA imperial stout I've had. A true desert beer with the coffee and chocolate intensity. It is not extraordinarily complex, missing some of the dark fruit qualities, but hey, can't have everything. Just an incredible beer, need to have one around at all times.

Thanks to jfam for this - 2011 edition
Appearance - Dark brown colour with an average size frothy head. I can't make out the amount of carbonation showing and there is some decent lacing. The head lasted for around 5-6 minutes before it was gone.
Smell - Malts, chocolate, grains, coffee, chicory, vanilla
Taste & Mouth - There is a below average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, chocolate, and coffee. There is also some vanilla, dark fruit, and chicory.
Overall -What this big beer manages to do very well is - not be cloying. Its got a lot of taste and booze, but not the sweetness that usually accompanies this. A fantastic beer worthy of its acclaim.
