Jet Black, with an off-white head. Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramel malt flavors. Clean and crisp, full- bodied. 750 ml bottle poured into a snifter glass.

A - Inky black with some mahogany hints - dark brown head that dissipates quickly. Does not appear to be strongly carbonated.

S - The aroma is complex - dark chocolate and coffee notes, along with some alcohol as well. Molasses seems to be in the mix as well.

T - Similar to the nose - the coffee notes seem to come through a bit more, and the bitterness is a bit pronounced. The alcohol is well blended and not overpowering.

M - Very smooth - glides right across the tongue.

O - Overall, this is a great Imperial stout - I'd be curious to taste the barrel aged version.

A-Leather black/brown. Pours same color as the bottle, a perfect super dark black/brown. Moose brown head that is sudsy and thick. Like I had an imaginary straw and blew into the brew to create a bubbly head.

S-Dairy. Vanilla. Fresh sweet cream. Roasted coffee. Caramel.

T-Chocolate. Coffee. Roasted the chocolate and coffee taste, like campfire s'mores & cowboy outdoor kettle coffee. And yet the coffee/chocolate swirls around sweet & smooth too. Like a glass of iced coffee with cream and milk chocolate combined. A tart-sour finish reminds one of chocolate dipped raspberries. Bitter dark cocoa lingers. One of the best tasting let alone stouts, but beers period.

M-Medium body. Creamy. Like a super medium. Resinous oily finish. Decent carbonation that tends to die down as all stouts/porters do with time. Refreshing and cool. Warming as well. Beauty of stouts: good cold, good warmed. I felt like a chocolatier was funneling fresh gourmet liquid chocolate down my throat.

O-AleSmith-Speedway Stout lives up to it's name and even exceeds it. Nothing bad to say about this beer. The chocolate and coffee were so even. One didn't nudge the other out of place. Congrats must go to The Ryan Bros. for the locally fresh brewed coffee infusion. This lent the stout a silky smooth swirl that made me feel like a kid again enjoying a sweet dessert treat.
Can't wait to buy another bottle and try to find any and every flavor variation.

Shared with bpk59. 2012 vintage?

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown almost black hue with a great two finger mocha head that leaves nice side lacing.

S - Aromas of chocolate, older coffee, alcohol is hidden nicely.

T - Taste is fair amount of dark fruits, kind of over power the coffee and chocolate. Definitely tastes older slightly old.

M - Mouthfeel is nice smoother carbonation. Not much alcohol.

O - Overall this was a bit too dark fruit for my liking. Ah, very unfortunate.

750 ml bottle was poured into a tulip glass. Review #700 folks.

Appearance: This beer poured a two finger mocha head. It is a pitch black color with no clarity or vision of bubbles seen coming up through the glass. The head has reduced somewhat to a puffy layer and left some nice lacing on the glass. More lacing all the way down the glass.

Smell: Molasses, smoke, caramel, toffee, roasted coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, warm boozy alcohol, a little tobacco, and dark fruit.

Taste: Really roasted espresso like coffee, bittersweet chocolate, roasted malts, raisins, smoke, caramel, toffee, tobacco, warm boozy alcohol, and some bitterness from the coffee. Cool stuff.

Mouthfeel: Creamy smooth, full bodied, warming, mild bitterness, very drinkable, low to medium carbonation, and delicious.

Overall: Pretty awesome beer for my 700th review. Ill take it towards the top 250. That list is virtually impossible, but over time, I could see myself making it past 150.
