Notes/Commercial Description:
Jet Black, with an off-white head. Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramel malt flavors. Clean and crisp, full- bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel. You won't fool your taste buds - this beer is HUGE!

Poured from a 750ml into a Founders Snifter.

A: Pours a thick black color. Aggressive pour leads to a rising mocha colored 2 finger head that fades slowly leaving sticky lacing down the sides of the glass that don't ever go away.

S: Toasted malts, cocoa, coffee, dark fruits.

T: Big complex cocoa/coffee flavors bringing the house down with complexity. Such a mix of malts, coffee bitterness, cocoa nibs and black licorice.

M: Pretty medium bodied for an Imperial stout. Coats the mouth pretty significantly.

O: Very very good beer. One of the smoother Imperial Stouts I've had.

A: pitch black color dark brown notes when held up to the light when pouring got about a 2 finger head that went away fairly quick good ammount of lacing with a good ammount of alcohol legs

S: good ammount of chocolate and coffee notes on the nose a little bit of dark fruits with a slight hit of alcohol

T: I can really get the coffee almost tastes like taking a black cup of coffee adding a little yeast and sugar there was a nice hint of chocolate there was a bit of an alcohol burn and taste at first as it settled a little bit it became more subdued

M: lighter than expect it was more on the medium full side not as viscous as most imperial stouts I've had in the past but I could see it cutting through a heavy meal really like with fish and chips

O: fantastic beer overall I'm going to try and drink with a little more chill next to see if the burn for the alcohol goes away otherwise this beer comes highly recommended

Poured into my tulip from a 750ml bottle with no date.

A-Poured a nice black color. Not as think as I was expecting. Great 1 1/2 inch tan/mocha head that is very sticky as it leaves great lacing as it recedes. Good carbonation. Keeps a great slight tan line on top of the beer.

S-Chocolate, alcohol, fruit, dark malts. Not getting as much of the coffee smell as others have talked about in their reviews, but it is there.

T- Great flavor. Chocolate, sweet, alcohol, coffee, chocolate fudge.

M- Very nice Imperial stout. Didn't seem like it poured very thick, but is thicker than I thought in the mouth.

O- A very nice beer for the style. I was very impressed. As the night goes on I will give more details as this beer warms.

Poured into a Due South Brewing Co. snifter. No freshness date.

A- Pours a jet black color with a 1/2 inch dark tan head that retains beautifully before eventually becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a thin coat of surface foam. Full, sticky sheet of lacing slides slowly down the glass.

S- Big rush of mocha, vanilla, coffee and a bit of booze. Yep, you sure can smell the alcohol in this, although it plays off the dark chocolate and other aromas listed well. Smells slightly nutty as well.

T- Dear lord, that's delicious. Magnificently balanced flavors of peanut butter, dark chocolate, molasses and dark roasted coffee. It's easy to drink but the booze catches up after a while yet still only adds to the complexity. The heavy roasted malt, alcohol and bitterness from the hops become more apparent as it warms, leaving some of the sweetness behind.

M- Very creamy and soft. Medium carbonation and a deeply robust body.

O- All the flavors I look for in a stout as well as the optimal viscosity. I guess the hype exists for a reason because I was blown away by this. Wish I had one to put down for a year or so.
