Bought the bottle almost a year ago but god knows when it was bottled.
A: Pitch black with a huge mocha-colored head. Beautiful looking stout. Thick and great head retention.
S: Eww licorice? I hate licorice. Some roasted coffee, roasted malt and dark chocolate. Not the best smelling beer out there.
T: Dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. Thank god there's no licorice in here. A little chocolate bitterness in the aftertaste. Hint of alcohol at the end.
M: Full bodied, medium carbonation. A bit sticky.
O: This is a great coffee stout. Even though I'm not a huge fan of coffee I enjoyed this quite a lot.

Bottle is somewhat aged, maybe a year or two. No way of knowing because Alesmith can't be bothered to date their bottles.
A: Pitch black pour. Huge super-dense medium brown head. Thick as can be. Great head retention; fades slowly. Oddly enough, not much lacing, just thick, fluffy tendrils here and there. Practically stains the glass it's so thick and dark.
S: Rich coffee and anise. Mild dark fruits, primarily raisin and maybe fig? A bit of char to go with the coffee.
T: Again, a really nice rich, earthy coffee up front. Some creamy yet dark chocolate with it too. Sweetness fades a bit and the coffee and chocolate become fairly bitter at this point. Lots of anise, particularly in the finish. Dark fruits like prunes, fig and raisin float around too, evident mainly in the aftertaste oddly enough. Has sort of a fruity, earthy and charred aftertaste.
M: Mouthfeel is amazing on this one. Has a full, thick, almost "fluffy" body. Just coats the mouth. Wonderful.
O: One of the better coffee stouts I've ever had. It's not pure coffee like some, instead it melds nicely while still being quite a strong aspect. The maltiness of the 12% really helps compete, I think. Mouthfeel is top notch on this one, like brownie batter in your mouth. Makes it surprisingly drinkable despite the strong flavors and bigger ABV. Overall the beer is surprisingly mellow and well-integrated.
