1Pt 9.4 Fl oz bottle with no freshness date. Bottle recommends aging for 6 to 24 months....well....then give us a starting point for crying out loud! I bought this about 5 or 6 months ago, but I have no idea how old it was before that.

Poured into my La Fin Du Monde glass. Black in color with a chocolate brown head that stood about 2 fingers tall. It has since settled to a thin layer covering the top of my beer. Nice lacing and head retention on the glass.

Bittersweet chocolate and coffee dominate the nose. I'm also getting some molasses, burnt sugar, and chestnut honey. Very nice.

Nice roasted coffee flavor up front provides a little bitterness. Chocolate flavor is definitely there as well. Hops are noticeable, but in the background for sure. A touch of sweetness near the end, but it's balanced out by the coffee and the hops.

Full bodied mouthfeel with a creamy texture. Low level of carbonation.

A top notch IS overall. I like this more than FBS and WnB.

Morey's Bottom Line: If you like IS's and bold coffee, then this beer is for you. I would have never guessed that this is 12%!

Heard good things about this beer, and have yet to try it, so this seemed a natural for my first ever BeerAdvocate review. Looking forward to this one.

Poured into Brooklyn tulip glass, leaving 1'' of dense brown foam which dissipated fairly slowly. Thick lacing remained on the glass.

Nose has chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, with an inviting undertone of serious booze. This should be fun.

Delicious. Chocolate/cocoa predominate with sweetness balanced by serious bitterness, especially in the finish. Mouthfeel is thick and almost syrupy, and really adds to the richness of the beer.

A memorable first experience with this beer, likely to be repeated in the future.

First aspect of this Beer you notice is the thick, dark appearance when you pour, deep dark brown pretty much black color accompanied by a thick tan colored head that leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is filled with coffee, chocolate, and a hint of spice. Up front your hit with smooth coffee, intertwined with dark chocolate that fades into a warm caramel aftertaste. A thick tasty brew, at 12% ABV this is a very good drinkable stout.

Also this beer goes great with chocolate brownies!

Bottle poured into a snifter. Got this one as an Xmas present, probably not more than 3 months old.

A- Pours black with a nice finger's worth of caramel colored head which quickly dissipates into a think film along the top. Lacing is apparent on the sides of the glass.

S- Lots of coffee, hints of chocolate and vanilla, roasty malts. Alcohol is also evident in the aroma.

T- Up front I get lots of roasty malts, which moves into the coffee flavor. The coffee is big in this one, as one would expect. Then some hints of chocolate come about. For a stout I can taste some hop presence as well. Very good stuff.

M- Thick and chewy. For being 12% ABV the alcohol doesn't bite too bad. A great sipper.

This is certainly one of the better stouts I've had. You wouldn't think it of it as being 12% ABV based on the way it drinks. I'd like to see how the coffee flavors fare with some age on this one.

Pours black, some brown notes in the pouring and leaves a dark mocha head with bubbles of all size which dissipates to a ring. Lacing is thin and oily.

Smell is of coffee, bitter chocolate, sweet thick malt, a slight hop presence, and a touch of the booze.

Taste is of coffee, chocolate truffle coated in coco powder, sweet perfectly roasted malt.

The full body is creamy and smooth, and the oily, syrupy brew slides over the tongue like it just wants to be drank.

Easily the best stout I have had yet, great flavor makes me feel like a kid again. The texture is so nice as to feel like I am not drinking any alcohol. The only way I know it's got booze is the smell and the way my head feels.

Great Stout - estimated around 2-3 months old...bought right before Christmas.

A - Jet back, excellent lacing in the Delirium Tremens snifter I poured it in. Nice 2 finger head of mocha mocha mocha coloring from a not too agressive pour which was more impressing.

S - A bit muted but opened up well when approaching room temp. Chocolate and Vanilla up front, almost Oatmeal cookie like. Yum. Backed up by a nice roasty coffee as it should but the nose told me straight up this one will have a velvety, silky mouthfeel which I'm looking forward to.

T - Follows nose 100%. Finishes a bit bitter from the hops but it works so well becuase it makes it an easier drinker. Chocolate and Vanilla Oatmeal cookie, roast coffee, and soft on the palate that finishes a roasty bitter...very good. 12% nowhere to be found. Very very well balanced stout at 12% leaving me impressed, very impressed.

M - Soft, velvety almost as if were aged and then the finish comes...reminding you it's young from the bitterness the hops provide. Carbonation = PERFECT. I'd assume mouthfeel unreal with age.

O - Age will smooth this bad boy out some but if the coffee fades, I feel this stout will lose it's edge. I must say though...it's so good that age would only make it softer on the palate, and I've never had an aged one so shit...I need to go out and buy more to find out! Great Beer and at $12.99, it's "about" right on the money these days.

*EDIT* Barrel Aging this one...I could only imagine!!! ISO ISO
