Alesmith IPA: thank you BA for letting me learn about such fine beers, like Alesmith IPA in a 22 oz bomber. It pours a very nice looking tan, and is quite hazy, which of course is only natural for a bottle conditioned beer. The head is quite thick and long lasting, and is a tiny bit off white.
The aroma is very pleasant, extremely hoppy, with floral notes.
The taste is terrific, perfect for your friendly neighborhood hophead. Not really a traditional IPA as the hop profile is a little too huge, but on the other hand, it is not a double IPA hop bomb either. There is some balance between some bready malt, and the hops. The dominant flavor is citrus/grapefruit notes produced by the hops.
Extremely easy to drink and refreshing. Light bodied and tasty. Nice.

Poured a 22oz. bottle into a Sam Adams custom.
A: Color is a burnt orange to light amber, and the pour produces an off-white, yellowish craggy head at 2 fingers with good retention and a sticky lace.
S: Light toasty malt, some graham cracker. The hop embellishments are on the resiny and citrusy side with subtle tropical fruit like pineapple and mangoes, maybe even a little peach.
T: A lot going here: The malt base light and toasty, bready, a slight hint of sweetness like graham crackers. Then there is a gentle hop bitterness that creeps in but is then upstaged by a middle act from the malt...tropical fruit and some creaminess. But then the finish leaves a pleasant hop bitterness on the palate with remaining traces of the complex malt.
M: Very light carbonation, medium-light body and a tightly woven texture.
O: This is one of the most unique but well-balanced IPAs that I have had. Relatively incredible. I would pair this with any sweet-spicy dish with pineapple, like pineapple-chicken skewers or other Hawaiian fair.
