A-Golden yellow with a nice white head that dissipates. Good strong lacing
S-Citrus, grapefruit, musty, floral, earthy and a hint of spice
M-Great body and higher end medium carbonation
T-Light sweetness, that then goes into a hoppiness of happy hop flavours. Smooth bitterness that lingers on the palate.
O-This is a beer I could drink daily. West Coast IPA all the way.
Highly recommend.

Appearance: Beautiful clear orange color with a huge head of foam, very good lacing, and lots of carbonation.

Smell: Pine, citrus, tropical fruits.

Taste: Citrus, tropical fruits, caramel, pine. crackery malts.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, with a moderate hop bitterness in the finish.

The Verdict: Delicious. Well balanced between hops and malts and between sweet and bitter. Great example of what an IPA should be.

Poured with an oily white head and a dark but clear orange body.

Fresh cut lawn, piney ,some dried flowers with some spicy red pepper and baking soda smells.

Really malty, hops some in front and finish . the middle is pretty malty. Oranges and peppercorns. some lemon notes in the after taste.

Really nice dry finish is refreshing.

loved this IPA, very complex.

From a bomber dated 1/27/15.

A rather well balanced IPA...not exactly what I expected from a SD brewery but pleasant nonetheless (although I certainly don't object to hop bombs!). The bready maltiness actually dominates on both the nose and tongue for me. The fruity and bitter elements from the hops are there but pretty subtle when compared to a lot of other west coast IPAs. This is a real quality brew, but, considering the cost, I'm not sure I'll come back to it anytime soon....a couple more bucks will get me a sixer of some other great stuff.

(bottle, 22oz) Good at first, but one dimensional. Has a nice hempy/dank taste at first but that is all I tasted throughout. Kinda leaves you looking for something else at the end. (2/8/15)

color is a clear copper, pours a finger of white head that retains well and is reinforced by a steady stream of bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. In the taste and the aroma there's lots of citrus fruit notes with some apples and pears in there too, with a nice, bready, malt backbone. very crisp and finishes cream, overall a really top notch IPA, Tasty, smooth, balanced, no bitterness.

First time I've seen a fresh bottle on Long Island in probably a year or two. I love this beer, and have been waiting for the opportunity to have it again. Last time I saw a bottle, it was 9 months old.

Bottled 01/05/2015. That's as fresh as it will get in these parts.

A: Golden orange with a straw-like hue. Decent head that faces to a persistent lacing that sticks all over the glass. Quintessential IPA appearance.

S: Smells like someone placed a pine tree in the middle of a fruit farm from Central America . Mango, papaya, tangerine and pineapple taunt the senses while the pine and resin sneaks up on it. Slight malt presence, not that I am complaining. I wish the majority of IPAs smelled like this.

T: Well balanced hop flavors all present in the aroma. Tropical flavors exploded at first followed by a very nice resinous pine flavor that just coats the tongue. Very dank and sticky. Nice biscuity-cracker and caramel malt presence helps keep this beer from being over the top with hops.

F: Medium bodied, well carbonated. Bitter but not over the top.

O: Still one of my favorite IPAs. First had it when I was out in San Diego, and have been on the search in NY since. I've come across it a few times since, with only a handful of times being this fresh. Will definitely go back out and pick more up tomorrow. For a 95 rating, this beer is so far under the radar its not even funny. Phenomenal IPA and a great guideline for other IPAs.

Pours a murky gold with slight white head.
Smell was a nice clean scent as though I 2as drinking a beer outside on a sunny day.
If I dreamt of an ipa this is how it would taste. Clean and refeshing. Perfect balance of hop.

I've had it on draft only but will taste it in a bottle when I see it to see if there is any difference. As long it is on draft at the local pub, I'm having one.

Dark golden pour, clear. Fluffy white head slowly receding to a messy lace.
Nice hop and malt balance in the smell, with fragrant caramel biscuit and sweet tangerine, pineapple, mango, papaya, faint lychee, candied grapefruit, a bit of pine too. Really nice.
Taste takes you on a really cool trip. Starts rather sweet, with caramel maltiness up front and honey glazed citrus (tangerine, orange, faint grapefruit). A grainy crackery note shows up, and the fruitiness develops too, with peach and nice tropical notes, the pulpy kind, like mango, papaya, faint maracuja. Nice and "oily". Pine and hop resin towards the end, a generous bitterness to complement the nice fruitiness.
Tropical notes still linger in the aftertaste, lots of pine, grapefruit, and caramel sweetness sharing the palate with clinging hop bitterness. Medium body and carbonation, a bit sticky.
An awesome IPA, not too rough, not too sweet, with a really diverse flavor profile. It's so tasty you'd wish you had more.

It really is a perfect IPA, completely under the radar. Extremely balanced with depth and character, nothing subtle about this beers statement. Great stuff.

Thinking, in particular, of the cask version of this, which offers a kaleidoscope of smell, stratospheric fruitiness, with enough citric bite to bring it back down to earth. Nice and bitter on the palate. Been too long since I had a fresh bottle/pint of the non-cask version. Will report back once I have. In the meanwhile, if you ever see this on cask, give it a whirl -- I thought it translated incredibly well.

Pours hazy gold with a large head.
Nose shows pine, resinous hops and a fair whack of sweet clean malt.
More pine and resinous notes as flavours along with some grapefruit and sweet clean malt. Finishes with an assertive, lasting bitterness.

Wow. I wasn't expecting what this beer delivered. Should have expected it coming from Alesmith. Citrus notes, great hop bitterness, and solid body make this an exceptional IPA.

Poured from a 22oz bottle with a bottled on date of 12/11/14; into a pint glass (per the recommendation on the bottle).
Appearance - golden, clear and bubbly with a thick, fluffy white head. Lacing is decent.
Smell - mouth watering grapefruit and tangerine; very dank, very powerful!
Taste - hop bomb with delicious citrus fruit flavors!
Feel - very bitter but not over the top due to the fruity sweetness!
Overall - superb IPA; if you're a fan of the style, then you'll love this beer!

Really good initial hoppy taste. Pretty hoppy and just the right amount of maltyness. It's kind of like lagunitas Maximus but with more malts. The only problem is the finish, there is an unpleasant bite on my palette

Poured into an IPA glass from a 22 oz bomber.

Color is clear gold with a massive white head. Great retention and lacing. Smell is tropical and fruity. Very nice. Flavor is mango, pineapple with some grapefruit rind. Malt is hidden, but balanced. Finish is crisp and bitter. Body is medium with a ample carbonation.

Overall, a fantastic IPA with a great hop profile.

Pours a medium copper color with a single-finger head that quickly dissipates and leaves some spotty lacing.
The aroma is pine and grapefruit and orange pith with, perhaps a hint of toffee beneath.
Taste is citrus up front with pine following a a bit of sweetness followed by a long-lasting and drying bitter.
Mouthfeel is medium and slightly sticky.
Overall, really tasty IPA.

Appearance: Bright and clear gold. Great cloudy white head with great retention and lacing.

Nose: Grapefruit, citrus, and tangerine. Nice herbs and pine.

Taste: Great malt and hop balance. Malt lingers around and coats your tongue. Initial crisp and dry, fresh piney hops.

Notes: Just exactly what you want in an IPA.

22 oz bottle was poured into a nonic glass.

Appearance: A two finger head was poured that reduced to a thin puffy layer. It is a pale orange yellow color with great clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Super frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Nice citrus, grapefruit, tangerine, herbal, and piney hops with caramel and bready malts to finish things out.

Taste: The hops are juicy smooth rolling right off your tongue and you have a nice malt base to even things out. Got tastier as it warmed and this beer grew on me with every sip too.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium bodied, medium carbonation, slight bitterness, and a little chewy.

Overall: A hard find here in the Boston area. No bottle dating and hard to know how long it has sat on the shelves. Either way, I'd have to say the beer was somewhat fresh and the hops held up nice. I'll go back to the same store and get another bottle.

Partially translucent light orange with a pretty foamy white head that fades around the edges. Some cute bubbly lacing.

Strong nose of citrus, tropical fruits and a great piney character.

Bitter grapefruit taste mixes well with medium bodied bready malt. Pine forest flavor is there with mandarin orange. Great texture. Perfect balance of crisp carbonation and smoothness makes it very drinkable.

Pours a light copper color. Citrusy nose with some pine notes as well. Nice balanced flavor but a little light in the hop department even for a single IPA.

This beer pours a lovely amber color with a decent bit of foam. The nose is well balanced with a strong malt presence and some nice, piney hops. The nose is fairly malty. The taste is very clean, and has a nice does of piney hops. The beer is quite clean and the bitterness does not linger unpleasantly on the tongue.

This is a very nice IPA, one of my favorites. Very clean, very piney and with a nice malt backbone.
