The head was phenomenal on the first pour (tulip glass): full, tight, lacy. Excellent and rare aroma of pure piny hops, reminded me of Pliny the Elder. Absolutely first rate. I was surprised by the lack of carbonation thereafter. This is a fantastic IPA that I have wanted to taste for a long time, and finally got the chance after my local store stocked it. The mouthfeel and aftertaste scored lower for me because I expect carbonation, & the bitters at the back of my tongue seemed *just* a little slimy. But these are minor issues for a fantastic drink. And, my opinion is just that.

Appearance: Light golden color with a medium-head that diminishes quickly to a thin ring and a good amount of lacing on the glass.

Smell: Hops, hops, hops. Citrus smells, grapefruit, caramel malts, pine.

Taste: Cracker/caramel malt up front, light body then finishes crisp with the hop bitterness coming through at the end with a grapefruit rind taste accompanied by a piney aftertaste. This really does a number on the palette.

Mouthfeel: Light body and crisp at the end.

Overall: Great. Fits the style, very similar to a lot of other IPAs I have had. I love the bitterness at the end and love the citrus hop flavors you get out of it. All comes together really well.

Poured from a bomber dated september 10, 2013 into an IPA glass

A - Bright golden hue, persistent fluffy white head on the beer, about 2 fingers thick Very pretty.

S - Grapefruit, Citrus, Something tropical, a little piney, and a sweet caramel note at the end for good measure

T - Starts out like the smell, finishes with a nice strong bitterness like an IPA should. Barely notice the alcohol - in fact I couldn't tell you it was over 7% without reading the specs.

M - A little undercarbonated for my taste. I like my IPA's to prick the tongue, and this one didn't quite do it for me. A very smooth mouthfeel

O - Very drinkable, very good IPA. Glad the guy at the bottle shop recommended I take one home while I was visiting in California. Would definitely recommend and drink again at the $6 price point, if I had regular access to the beer.

Bomber > Pint Glass

A - Pours a nice clear gold color, 1 finger of soapy white head, medium lacing.
S - Lots of orange in the aroma, a mind biscuit malt , some minor floral notes, orange being the big thing here.
T - Just as the aroma would suggest, huge orange flavors, some other citrus zest, but nowhere near the amount of orange, followed by a big biscuity and slightly caramel malt base, some dry floral notes, and nice grassy bitterness on the end.
M - Bigger on the feel, but not too much, and the bold flavors fade fast, still leaves with a nice orange aftertaste.
O - By far the most "orange" beer I've tasted, good IPA, good balance, lots of flavor, especially if you love orange.
