Served on-draught into a 4 oz taster at Alesmith's tasting room. Cost was $2.00. Expectations are high given the brewery. Reviewed from notes taken about a month ago.

I'm still shocked they see fit to serve their beer in plastic cups. For shame.

A: Pours no head at all, with a white ring floater of good thickness, some cream, and okay retention. Colour is a clear pale copper. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show.

Sm: Pale clean malts, barley, and yes, lactic notes. A mild strength aroma.

T: Clean malts, lactose, some cream, and a full bodied barley foundation. It's tasty, albeit simple (especially for Alesmith). Some subtlety - especially in the lactic notes. Enjoyable and refreshing. The lactose adds some light pleasant funk. Very clean character; I can't emphasize that enough.

Mf: Smooth, wet, clan, and a bit crisp, with a delightful finish. Very smack-your-lips refreshing.

Dr: I could down this all night; it's very drinkable. I wouldn't buy a full 750 of this, but it's a nice little brew. Worth a go.

Lil Devil with lactic acid added at some point. On tap at Alesmith.

A: Slightly hazy blond in color with a finger of creamy foam.

S: Lower moderate lactic character accompanies apple, pear, coriander, and a touch of vanilla. Light tartness. Pleasant aroma. Malt is biscuity in character.

T: Dry and lightly tart with pervasive lactic notes and a low sourness. Pepper-like spiciness blends with apple, lemon, and pear. Dry and lightly sour finish.

M: Upper light to lower medium body with a lower high level of carbonation.

Overall: A nice variation on Lil Devil and an improvement I'd say. Seems to have cut the sweetness and spiciness. (664 characters)

Had this on tap at the brewery/tasting room two weeks ago. The brewer said it's Lil' Devil with lactic acid added.

Pours pale gold with a bubbly white head that lasts a good while. a few lace trails stick to the glass. The aroma is sweet with a fruity character and a biscuity maltiness. Pretty light. Tart lactic acid mixes with pear and apple flavors and a bit of lemony, citric hops. The mouthfeel is very light with a brisk, busy carbonation. The finish is lightly tart and pretty short lasting.

This is a pretty nice tart ale. It doesnt have the funk of a wild ale or lambic and its acidity is very restrained. This would make a great entry beer into the awesome world of sour ales. (689 characters)

On tap at AleSmith tasting room.

A: Pale, clear straw color with a thick, fine head and nice rings of lace. Excellent retention.

S: Lactic tartness, some fruity yeast (apple and pear), a little spice, and pale-ish bready malt.

T: Lactic sour--a bit more than ideal for me--up front and through mid sip, followed by the malt, some fruity esters, and a bit of lemon mostly at the end. Pretty dry and crisp, which is a plus.

M: Medium body and very light carbonation. Crazy smooth mouthfeel.

O: Interesting, and I appreciate the experimentation, but a bit low in drinkability. Not something I could finish a pint of. Some more hops would brighten this up and add a nice dimension of flavor. I think I prefer the regular Lil Devil to this. (741 characters)
