On tap @ the source for the Vietnamese bottle release. Part of a taster flight which included:
Vietnamese Nut Brown
Vietnamese Speedway with Coconut
Barrel-Aged Old Numbskull
A: Pours brown with faintly reddish highlights under a 1/4-inch thick off-white head which fades to the rim slowly and leaves spotty lace.
N: Nutty, mellow earthy roasted coffee, faintly sweet malts/grains.
T: Very well balanced. Follows nose. Stand out coffe and nutty earthyness.
M: Full body and semi-medium carbonation. Smooth, slightly boozy, nutty roasted coffee finish.
O: Please bottle this. The world needs a chance to try this.

Appearance - Medium brown with good carbonation. Has some viscosity to it, but it'll never be confused with it's bad@ss brother, Speedway.
Smell - Obvious notes of coffee, nut, hints of caramel/molasses.
Taste - Very balanced flavors. Coffee up front, followed by nutty flavor. Delicious and crazy good! Not sweet, but will still get notes of caramel.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, smooth, no real bite of the alcohol.
Overall - Nut Brown was already one of my favorite brown ales even way back when it was called Nautical Nut Brown Ale. Then it was supplanted by Rogue's Hazelnut Brown Nectar. Then I had the Vietnamese Nut Brown during the Barrel Aged Speedway release party at the AleSmith facility/tasting room. This could've easily stole the show, but the BA Speedway was very delicious as well. I wouldn't be surprised, and really hope that they bottle this and release this. If I had to sum up this beer in a few words it would be: best brown ale, balanced, evenly viscous.

Sampled at the brewery as part of the specialty coffee beer flight at the release party on August 10th, 2013.
Appearance - Looked like any other brown ale out of the tap. A small head that dissipated into a thin ring in no time, and very clear brown.
Smell - Outstanding. The addition of the vietnamese coffee to an already wonderful brown ale just amplified the aroma in this beer. The coffee component dominates the nuttiness by a mile.
Taste - Just perfect in my opinion. The coffee does come through in spades in the taste as it does in the aroma. There is substantial malt sweetness which complements the coffee extremely well. There is some toasted bread and nutty flavor that comes through in mid-palate, but the end is all the aroma and bitterness brought on by the coffee.
Mouthfeel - Straddles the light-medium spectra, and this works perfectly for the beer. Highly quaffable stuff, though it might be more suitable for a cool evening, or a breakfast with sausage and scrambled eggs (I had this in the late afternoon in the mid-70s California summer) .
Overall - This beer came in a flight with the following beers, and clearly held its own:
1. Vietnamese Speedway Stout
2. World Tour Blend Speedway Stout
3. Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout 2013
If I were to rank them, I'd put them in this order:
1. BA Speedway / Vietnamese Nut Brown
2. Vietnamese Speedway
3. World Tour Blend
Need I say more!? I see myself camping out the brewery and filling up my growlers in the months to come. Go and get this while it's still available - easily a top 5 in its category, and possible top 20 of all the ones I've had the pleasure of imbibing.
