Sep. 2016: 330 ml bottle (twice, actually) at Restaurant Coconut, Rhodos. ABV is 5.2%. Has none of the characteristics of a Dunkel, this is a Schwarzbier. Black colour, beige head. Medium roasty and fairly dry aroma and flavour, mild coffee notes. One of the better schwarzbiers I’ve had.

A really good, dark roasted malt flavoured European dark lager. Clearly much better than the regular blond lager.

Very dark, opaque, almost black with just a hint of dark amber around the edge when held up to the light. One finger of beige head that leaves lively lacing around the glass. Toasted bread and coffee dominate the aroma as well as the taste, with chocolate notes also making their presence felt. Very little hops presence. Long, slightly bitter finish of chocolate and coffee. The mouthfeel is medium-full, nicely balanced, the carbonation somewhat gentle, but effective in its task. Overall, a surprisingly good dark beer from Greece of all places. You'd expect a southern European beer to be a light lager, perhaps refreshing but almost certainly forgettable at best. Not the case here. This is a rich, complex, flavourful dark beer. Get some if you ever find it, it's well worth it.

L- Pours clear/filtered. Pours rather like a glass of Cola, Very dark, towards black, with a 5mm fine-bubble tan head. Held up to a halogen lamp reveals a deep ruby-chestnut colour.
S- It has quite a roasty-toasty smell to it.
T- The roasty-toasty note is clearly in the taste too. It goes as far as to have hints of smoke or, err... what eating cold log cinders (!) might taste like.
F- Carbonation in the mouth is good. Perhaps because the taste is somewhat pungent the feel comes over as lower than 5.2%, Blind-tasted I might guess 4.8%
O- I generally associate south-Euro beers as primarily being lagers aiming to refresh and this is certainly different from that. I wondered whether it might have been introduced for tourists (esp Germans etc) who enjoy a bit more punch/character from their beer. Either way it's well balanced and easy-drinking. I rather like it, the roasty and slighly smokey notes are nice to find in a dark lager.

I tried this beer in the city of Tolo whilst vacationing in Greece. It poured a clear almost opaque dark amber with white head that did not leave any lace. The scent had roast and grain notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with slight sweet chocolate and grain. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

330ml bottle in Crete. Pours dark brown with a thin, short-lived head. After a couple of minutes, looks like a glass of cola. Smells of cocoa grounds but is thin and lacks richness. Malty flavour with light coffee and chocolate notes, and low bitterness. Body is medium/light with a hint of stickiness, is slightly gassy and finishes just about dry. Overall, this dark lager is a bit of nothing. The malt characteristics show the most in the aroma but otherwise they’re faint and thin.

I thought this was a solid brew from Greece, one that....despite it's dark colors, shined amid pretty forgettable beer in country. Dark, thick, tasty

Dark appearance but thin with white head. Aroma is a little malty and nutty. Taste is a thin malty nutty without and bitterness. In general it is a dark beer in name only
