On a rainy day in mijn fiets in Amsterdam I refused to ignore stopping at this splendid beer store- perhaps the only one in the city because I couldn't find the other one listed at BA. I rushed ignoring the place and thankfully had a mental image from the photo here listed- as I rushed through the rain at the Dam (this is in the paleisstraat which is one of the streets that leads and passes by the royal palace).
Damp et al, I entered the beer store and the only bad impression was- much as the rest of europe- the lack of air conditioning. but that went on right away, provided the beer selection faces you right away: an upper level with hundreds and hundreds of bottles carefully organised by nationalities (dutch, belgian, german, english and "rest of the world"). below, a cava-like bit for the lambics among which the unmissable stock of Cantillon's best. to the right, beer paraphernalia for us proud of drinking it and willing to boast it; and to the left, the register, behind which levels and levels of beer glasses (i counted up to 150 different).
Although I somewhat breezed through the store I had come to buy all their stock in 'de Leckere Tripel' because I have been hypnotised by this beer. unfortunately I'll only bring back four, because they were out until monday (after a thorough check by the friendly staff at the storage room)- too late for my colombian arse. comes to prove I should've gone there earlier to buy them out, because, in all fairness, the place had good prices for the quality range offered.

The name is accurate: these guys are truly the beer kings of Amsterdam. They have a diverse selection from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and a few other assorted places such as Denmark and Japan.
If anyone wants to help me convince these guys to start stocking some nice Canadian beers, though, then that would make it perfect.

A small little place, easy to find. The owners packed a lot into a little place. I noted American beers that I can't get here in America. They have a huge selection of glassware. I didn't spend much time looking at the glassware because I was there to buy beer to bring back to America. The prices weren't bad. The staff, like just about everyone in Amsterdam, speaks English. Note that if you need a bag, you will pay for a bag.
