The best beer store i have ever visited. I was floored when i walked into this place. It is quite compact with three different levels, all full with towers of beer. The shelving went almost to the ceiling with a section designated to almost every part of the world. A beer advocate would be fortunate to live close to this valuable resource. IF you find yourself in amsterdam, and capable of making it out of the coffee shop, take a look. You will be glad you did. It is WAY more fun than the heiniken "expereince".

De Bierkoning was a little hard to find. At first thought it was a Café (from the advertisements). Beer retailers in Amsterdam are hard to come by unless you are looking for Heineken or other more mainstream beers.
This place is the best beer retailer I have ever seen. They have a wonderful selection of Belgian and other European beers at pretty reasonable prices. Beirkoning also has a great selection of glassware, which is essential for enjoying the complete beer experience. The employees were very helpful, and I was able to find a couple of great beers on sale. I also got a cute little bottle opener as a ?free gift.?

This was something that I found by sheer coincidence ... I happened to miss the last tour of the Heineken experience by three or four minutes, and cursed myself and the poor timing. Apparently, I was so loud that a fellow American honed in on me and showed me the way - to one of the best beer shops i've ever been in.

This shop was tiny but had the best selection of Belgian beers i've ever seen. Everything is stacked pretty much up to the ceiling, and you'll find beer glasses accompanying almost every good beer they sell. I picked up a big bottle of Delirum and a glass for under 10 euros.

I have bottle caps from a myriad of Belgian beers I haven't even ever heard of, and it is unfortunate because I didn't even get a chance to do a review on any of them. I might never know the names of these unless I go back.

The service was helpful and friendly, even though he had trouble understanding my english. Altogether a great experience.

This small shop, a short walk from the central rail station, is well worth the visit if you find yourself in Amsterdam. My wife and I had a couple of hours to kill at the Amsterdam airport last year en route to Egypt. A 20 minute train ride, an even shorter walk, and there we were standing in front of De Bierkoning. I'm not sure how many different types of beer they have, but I would hazzard a guess of 800! The walls were lined, from top to bottom with beers from the Netherlands, Belgium, UK, and beyond, many not available back in the US. Hey, they even had Sam Adams for those looking for something a little closer to home. For those who can never have enough pint glasses, the selection of glassware was almost as impressive as the selection of beer!
