Had on the opening of the tap on 09/18/09.
Looked foward for this on had high expectations.

A- Amber color fluid with nice one inch head that left a rim around the glass mild to none lacing.

S- First off was a carmel malt, followed by more sweet yeast and hop charactors. Fresh but bland.

T- Fresh micro-brew taste (keep in mind it was tapped just that day) with nice malty backbone.
Carmel malts fresh toasted barley and light hops are noticable.

M- Smooth mouthfeel and lightly carbonated finish rolls over the tongue with ease.

D- Drinkable but for almost a dollar more a pint worthless to the other brew like the pale ale... so all and all not the best.

Draft at brewpub on 10/25/2005.

Poured a brown hue with an average frothy off-white head that was lasting with fair lacing.

Good roasted malt and sweet aroma.

Medium to full body.

Good well balanced flavor of malt and a bitter sweet finish of moderate duration.

Good brew.

The brewmasters at A1A are right on target with this year's version. I mean, it was so much better than last year's offering which I did not like at all. This Octoberfest was served from the tap in a heavy pint mug with a nice reddish-copper hue along with a creamy white head that stuck to the sides for a long time. Surprisngly there was very little lacing. The aroma was very subtle with some bready hints. The first sip revealed a very smooth caramel-malty sweetness with maybe just a touch of citrus followed by a slight hoppy finish. I really had lots of fun drinking this marvelous brew while grooving to the sounds of the Christopher Dean Band. What a great combination. I will definitely return to A1A Aleworks for more.

Poured from tap in to a stein by the bartender, the pour was not the best (horrible actually) so I could not tell you how big the head was, but it was a cream color and settled at an average speed. There was no noticeable lacing to speak of but the color was a great dark amber.

Smell was nutty, with hints of caramel malts.

Taste was nutty, with a slight smoky flavor to it. The caramel from the nose was not present on the tongue at all. Had a cheap taste to it, either from the malts not being fresh or just being cheap. It just did not taste good. There was potential but it was not happening with this one.

Mouthfeel was mixed, the carbonation was perfect but it left a sticky nasty taste in the mouth. The aftertaste was of cheap BMC and not an oktoberfest.

The aftertaste and cheap malty flavors didn't make for easy drinkability. I would not drink this again unless I was offered it for free.
