There is nothing better than having a 750 mL all to myself! It rarely happens as I find myself splitting the majority of the 750's.
I am particularly excited about this one. My first review with the beer sitting right in front of me.
Oh, wow. It looks so sinful. So delicate and beautiful, so simple yet so complex. To think that this very bottle was meant for me just makes me happy. Such a frothy, lucious size white head. But I must say that it does look rather light in color compared to the usual Belgian Dubbel.
The nose is complete uninteresting. Sweet sugars, malt and dark fruits erect my nose hairs but this ale smells way too sweet.
Drinks nicely but not very exciting. The Malts are definately obvious on the palate but not very powerful. Dark Cherries, Cloves, Sour Apples, Pears and sweets sugars. This ale is overwhelming sweet but is starting to mellow and open up and some pleasant sourness is coming out. Leaves an absolutely outstanding lace as well!
Overall, A solid offering from Allagash that I definately started to enjoy as it warmed to above 60 degrees or so. Some excellent flavors came out but still a little too sweet.

12oz. bottle poured into a stemmed tulip.
(A)- Pours a clear cranberry red color with some mahogany shades. Minimal off-white froth but with good retention.
(S)- Lots of biscuit-like yeast. Plenty of bubblegum meets some dark fruits and banana at the end.
(T)- Very similar to the smell with a dry biscuity yeast meets some dark fruits, banana, and subtle bubblegum.
(M)- A good carbonation level. A slight grainy feel the the beer texture-wise, but tastes great and minimal bitterness.
(O)- Not many american brewers makes a great dubbel, but this one is one of the best I have had from the states.
