Had on tap at Vin 909 in an Allagash glass
A-Pours a burnt orange red color, with one finger of head. Decent lacing.
S-Aromas are full of dark fruits including dates, figs, raisins, also some toffee and other sweet malts.
T-Taste is of dark fruits, now i get cherries, figs, raisins, and a slight nuttiness.
M-Mouthfell is well balanced great carbonation. Has a finish that is clean and smooth with very good drinkability.
O-Overall, this is a great brew away to go Allagash!

A 750 ml bottle that is a couple years old, picked up on a trip to CA. Batch 100.
Poured into a widemouth glass, a couple fingers of a beige creamy head emerge topping a relatively clear brown brew with ruby red highlights. Great lacing. As I get the yeast out in the 2nd glass the murkiness is as expected.
Aroma cold is dubbelish-sweet malts with plenty of ripe fruit. The malt character is a little stronger than most Belgians with a stronger roasted note. The fruity esters are strong with definite notes of prune and chocolate covered raisins.
Initial taste is at about 35-40F and very smooth. The malt and fruity esters from the yeast dominate. I should let this warm up to let more flavors come out but this is damn tasty cold.
Nice mouthfeel, slight carbonation tang in the finish. Dry. Slight warming, but doesn't hit you until its way down deep.
This dubbel is a little heavier in the roasted barley malt than most. The fruitiness is definite but lacks the flavor complexity of the greats such as Westmalle. A super easy to drink dubbel with plenty of good stuff going on. Well done. Wish I could get Allagash easier here in MN, would be drinking the hell out of there beers-especially the white.

A- Medium brown with a few small specks of a head.
S- Cherry, fig, prune, toffee, cardamom, allspice, toast
T- Like the nose, pronounced fruit, toffee sweetness and spice. A bit of a sour, roasty, dry moderately bitter finish.
M- Fairly dry with moderate, prickly carbonation.
O- A decent dubbel, though far from my favorite. The yeast character comes off similar to Chimay Red but something about the finish seems muddled, with the combination of dry, roast and sour flavors. One of the better American version, but not as good as any of the true trappists.
