S: Cohesive aroma of coffee and brown sugar sweetness. There's an almost bright, wet pine component (or acidic coffee?). Strong bourbon vanilla notes, too.

T: Sharp carbonation stands out. Flavor starts mellow until the sweetness kicks in, climaxing with a noticeable roasted bitterness most dominantly at the end. The mouthfeel is moderately thick despite it ending fairly dry. Flavor-wise it's mostly figs, banana, and some apple.

It's nice and polished, but didn't stand out or seem like anything particularly special.

Bottle from Harvest Market
Lightly hazy brownish amber color with a decent sized off white head that dissipates rather quickly. Brown sugar, clove, and pepper yeasty esters dominate the aroma. Hints of dark dried fruits round out the nose. The flavor follows the aroma quite well. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Nice light easy drinking dubbel.

Pours a deep cloudy amber with a nice rich head. Inviting. Smells like sweet caramel malts with just a hint of alcohol to bite the nose. Tastes rich with sweet biscuity malts, clove, and a little lemon bite in the finish. Mouthfeel is pleasant and resinous on the tongue. Overall, enjoyed this brew and would buy again.

Pours a dark amber color with a small, but persistent head.
Aroma is Belgian spice, yeasty, dark fruit, and malt.

Taste begins with a strong malt presence which is followed by dark fruit/yeast and a subtle touch of sweetness at the end that blends with the bitterness very nicely. Picking up on hints of chocolate, molasses, and a definite roasted nut flavor. It finishes dry and has a high carbonation level.

Overall, a very nice Belgian dubbel.

I think this bottle is fairly old...

A: Ruby with a thin bubbly head and lacing that slides down the snifter

S: Nutty and plums. I pick up a hint of noble hops - I'm probably just crazy.

T: Complex and loaded with dark fruits such as raisins, plums, and also a nutty flavor. Somewhat warming.

M: Medium bodied with a dry finish.

O: I measure most belgian beers against breweries such as Ommegang and Chimay and this surpassed both of their dubbels in my book. Complex, layered, dry, and balanced. Great dubbel.

Had on tap at Vin 909 in an Allagash glass

A-Pours a burnt orange red color, with one finger of head. Decent lacing.

S-Aromas are full of dark fruits including dates, figs, raisins, also some toffee and other sweet malts.

T-Taste is of dark fruits, now i get cherries, figs, raisins, and a slight nuttiness.

M-Mouthfell is well balanced great carbonation. Has a finish that is clean and smooth with very good drinkability.

O-Overall, this is a great brew away to go Allagash!
