12oz brown bottle
Served in an Allagash goblet
Pours a hazy orange-hued/tea-like color with a substantial fluffy white head on top.
The smells of citrus and spices rise at once, followed by grass pastures and wildflowers. A dry malty smell rolls forward, as does a light whiff of gin.
Balanced flavors of citrus and strong tea ride on a solid malty body. Minor flavors of wood and spice peek through. A bit of clove-like taste fades and a pleasant honey sweetness glides in.
Nice for a cool summer night on the beach!

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a pale yellow color and a cloudy consistency. There was an inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. OK lacing.
S: A surprisingly herbal aroma, considering the style, with citrus and yeast as well.
T: Tasted of the typical saison funk, yeast, a little citrus (lemon), the herbal quality, and some pepper as well. This is a slightly tweaked version of a saison (the herbal element is a little different), but it's no less flavorful.
M: A highly carbonated beer with a dry, lively finish. Medium-bodied.
O: This is another well made beer from Allagash. Totally worth checking out.

a very generic seeming saison for allagash to be putting out. the only real unique feature of it is its slightly more malt heavy base. the yeast is not the only flavor agent, as the grain is more here than the usual white wheat base. its got some toast and sugar too it, which is nice i think with the very familiar yeast strain in this beer. only a little hazy, and a little more orange than blonde, but somewhere in between. the head is nice on it, but it doesnt last real long. the smell and taste are the some. thin and winey from the yeast. its not as developed or interesting as some, but the sturdy grain base is welcomed. finish is dry and clean, and carbonation is fine but i wish the beer had just a little more body to go with its richer grain character. decent brew overall for sure, but knowing what allagash is capable of, especially in the farmhouse style, this one seems a little bland.
