On tap at a beer dinner event, reviewed from notes, 300 ml pour.

Appearance - a little cloudy, golden color. Foamy head of a half inch that fell to a ring around the edges.

Smell - strong ginger, citrus (orange), spicy (pepper, coriander). Faintly herbaceous and earthy from the ginger.

Taste - the ginger comes on mild at the start, but ends packing a punch! The ginger intensity builds, yet the citrus and spice flavors are not completely overwhelmed. It is a very fresh, earthy ginger flavor. Has a little taste that reminds me this ingredient comes from the ground - almost "dirt like" in a good way. More subtle flavors ome in to play - pear and apple notes, a hint of banana, and spicy notes of coriander and peppercorns.

Mouthfeel - Light in body, a little creamy, highly carbonated and crisp. Lively, refreshing beer. The ginger does linger for quite a while.

Overall, I enjoyed this beer. It paired perfectly with the accompaniment of plantains with pickled ginger relish and coconut broth. As much as I enjoyed the beer and the ginger flavor I think it is a "small dose" beer. Not sure a larger serving would be enjoyable by the end. Almost like the intent was to be a small glass served with an appetizer. Definitely a big brother of the base witbier. It shows what can be accomplished with judicious use of ingredients. (1,336 characters)

Kind of surprised not to see this on here already. Apparently a slightly stronger version of White brewed with ginger and spices. Reviewed from written notes taken at The Dive Bar three days ago.

A- Hazy golden pour from the tap to a pint glass with a fairly pale appearance. A cap rises to about one finger with a frothy and creamy texture. Head down to a thick ring that leaves some webs of lace.

S- Ginger, lemon zest and a general strong spiciness are the big three aromas for me. Notes of orange ring, coriander, pepper (pink/white), cooking herbs. Close to other Allagash brews as far as the base goes without ginger dominating.

T- Most notable change from the aroma is how much strength the ginger gains especially with warmth. Fresh sliced ginger root, very authentic with some spiciness from it. Still a big spice and zesty feel as well. Notes of orange/lemon zests, coriander, banana, clove, pear/apple esters, slight tartness, cracked Pils grain and more ginger as the experience grows.

MF- Fairly light bodied with a silky, foamy and somewhat creamy texture. Carbonation is high with a crisp and smooth feel. Ginger spiciness lingers on the palate like a hop bitterness would.

Pretty much as the bartender described it to me. Bigger version of White with more spices and a heaping serving of ginger by the time it ends. I like ginger quite a bit and it is balanced for about half of the pint. Still crafted well with good use of flavors. (1,454 characters)
