375 mL bottle. Deep red. Smells of brandy, oak, strong vinous notes with hints of vinegar. Tastes of no vinegar, though. Tastes kinda sweet. Strong oak, green apple, brandy, red wine. Medium heaby body. Sourness is balanced by sweetness. Good.

Apple pie, cherries, & cinnamon. Lightly tart Flanders red. Crazy good sour. Allagash killing it.

Maybe it was just the style of beer, because Allagash is a great brewery, but I am sorry , not good and I am being kind. No lacing no head, no big deal, because the taste was just not right. I am sorry. Never again on this one.
I had it on draught in a tulip glass.

this is really cool beer, and apparently unlike other reviewers here, i found it rather complex. the apple brandy barrel treatment really makes this pretty unique, its a strong influence on the aroma and the flavor, and really sweetens this up, a bizarre combination with some of the vinegar sour notes here, but it really does work. super new to me though, challenging at first, but then delightful. some funk here too on top of a very robust and sturdy malt base that sports caramel, toffee, and honey notes. lots of wood as well as the fruity red apple brandy, cognac notes, vanilla, pie, autumn essence. more acidic sourness than funk in the flavor, but both are there. more malt character than i am used to seeing in these wild ale types, it really makes it rich and warming. the barrel leads the flavor charge for me, with all the fruit and the grain coming together beautifully, and while it is quite puckery, its not over the top and it doesnt breakdown the richness previously established. very nature brew. allagash has built a wonderful portfolio of wild beers, unique and complex as they get, and this is another great beer in that range. heavy apple brandy here, a sort of stylistic fusion, enormously delicious.
