On tap at Three Floyds and served in a snifter. This beer poured a lightly hazed golden orange with a thin head of slowly fading off-white foam that left some even lines of lacing down the glass. The aroma was made up of candied oranges and pears, light clove and coriander, and also just a hint of bourbon. The flavor was bright and full of sugar-coated oranges, pears, honeycrisp apples...all tinged with a mellow bourbon note. Quite delicious! The mouthfeel was full-bodied and lush. Moderately carbonated. I love Allagash's tripel, but the bourbon barrels add another layer of flavor to a great beer.

Bottling date of March 22, 2013. Poured into goblet.
A-A nice burnt orange body with great clarity. The head was a pinkies width at best with minimal head retention.
S-Oak, peach, vanilla with a overall earthiness to it. None of them are really pronounced but all melded together.
T-Really enjoy the flavor of this beer. Up front you definitely get a fruitiness of peach and mango with the vanilla coming in after it. The bourbon barrels come in with the dry finish. The barrel aging is more subtle than I was expecting but fucking awesome none the less.
M-On the heavier side for the body thats broken up by the high carbonation. Dryer finish.
O-So this beer was worth the $18 after all. Enjoyed it alot. Wish the price tag was less so I could drink this more often. I do not know the ratio of how much they blend the fresh triple with the barrel aged tripel but being that the bourbon/vanilla/aged characteristics are so subtle I would say a majority of this beer is the fresh tripel. Not complaining at all because I really enjoy this beer. I will have to grab this years and see how it taste.
