Pours hazy light gold with a minimal white head.
Aroma has some upfront fruits. Banana, pear other lighter fruits, vanilla spice and a little graininess. A touch of bourbon
Flavor is similar to the aroma although there is a lot of pepper in the flavor. The banana and fruit notes are nice, but the bourbon and the pepper create an odd and not entirely pleasant flavor profile. This beer seems a bit confused as to what it wants to shine through.
Medium carbonation, mouthfeel on the lighter side with some alcohol present.
Ok concept, but didn't really do much for me. The flavor profile was very muddy and even though I split it 5 ways it still got a bit cloying by the end of the glass.

First reaction to the smell was big fruit with a hint of booze, just like I'd expect out of a Tripel. Quite complex but subtleness is key.
Picture perfect for an oak-aged Tripel. It has that golden haze and a crisp white head with plenty of visible carbonation to adore.
Curieux is intensely complex in flavor! Peaches, pear, and other nice summer fruit dominate with a nice oak (vanilla) character pulling it all together.
Highly carbonated and medium bodied, but incredibly drinkable for being an 11% sipper, this beer is a must-try!

Bottled Dec. 2010, poured into snifter.
A: Pours a pale golden color with orange highlights. There is a finger thick white, bubbly, creamy head that dissipates rather slowly and leaves some nice lacing.
S: There is a nice scent coming from the glass. It has the spices and yeast with some fruitiness of the tripel and a nice nose of bourbon, very welcoming for a beer and bourbon lover.
T: The taste is much like the smell, although the bourbon has a presence far and above anything else, which may be overpowering for some (I can see that), but I think it is excellent. Following the bourbon flavor iare some powerful spices and yeast and the finish is dry and has a yeast like after taste.
M: Medium bodied with some tingly carbonation. The feel is bourbon and spices.
D: This is an excellent beer, it is powerful and has some bold bourbon flavors punching you in the mouth, but it works well. It's something different from a tripel, something you find more in stouts, but I like the direction they went with this one. I had it fresh and if I recall I think the bourbon presence was much stronger, for those who don't appreciate that aspect, let it sit.
