Pours a hazy golden orange with a thin, creamy head and very mild carbonation.
Smell is definitely sour in character with a bread-like (almost biquity in nature), and sweet malt, pear, and some grapes. There's alot going on in the aroma.
Wow! Taste is where this beer really shines, it's very unique, unlike anything I've had so far. Starts with a tart sour character that hits the tongue immediately and without mercy. The sourness caused my mouth to salivate like crazy, and because of the tart sourness, it was very puckering. There's a slight sweet bisquit malt and has a prominent grape-like taste that counterbalances the sourness. There's also some oakiness in the background. The grape taste mimics that of a red wine, go figure since this was aged in wine barrels!
Mouthfeel is silky smooth, leaves a wet, puckering finish in the mouth.
Drinkability is very good. Overall it's a perfect balance between sweet and sour. The flavors hit the tongue in layers, it's very deep, complex, and leaves you wanting more. I bought a bottle to add to my beer collection, I may try to get a few more bottles of this stuff. Overall, a really cool beer.
