Pours exactly as the beer is named: black. It is a black viscousy color with a very thin white lacing that barely exists.
Smell is very faint of chocolate malts and dark fruits, like plum. There is a good bit of sweet sugar to the smell too.
Taste is very nice on this belgian dark. There is a good balance of dark malts and chocolate against some sweet fruits and sugar.
Mouthfeel is a bit thin for my liking, however there is nice silky smoothness to the feel.
Drinkability is good for such a strong belgian dark ale. The balance of the two parts of the beer makes nothing overbearable in the drink. This is a nice representation of the style that is worth trying, but it will not blow your socks off.
Serving type: growler
