I was about to conclude that I didn't like the Tripel style. I tried Maredsous 10, Chimay Tripel and Westmalle Tripel and found them all harsh and almost undrinkable.
Then I stumbled on Allagash Tripel Reserve. This one's a beauty. A gentle pour produces a beautiful cloudy gold without much head (head is overrated).
The taste has just a perfect bit of sweetness (sweetest tripel I've tried). I got sweet peaches as the fruit note. There is no bite or alcohol on this one, just a delicious nectar taste.
I found the mouthfeel perfect. The carbonation was just right. The mouthfeel was full and smooth without being heavy.
Drinkability? It would be easy to drink yourself under the table with this one, because the ABV is totally hidden.
Bottom line, run, don't walk, to get yourself a bottle.
